Importance: Peripheral (blood-based) biomarkers for psychiatric illness could benefit diagnosis and treatment, but research to date has typically been low throughput, and traditional case-control studies are subject to potential confounds of treatment and other exposures. Large-scale 2-sample mendelian randomization (MR) can examine the potentially causal impact of circulating proteins on neuropsychiatric phenotypes without these confounds.

Objective: To identify circulating proteins associated with risk for schizophrenia (SCZ), bipolar disorder (BD), and major depressive disorder (MDD) as well as cognitive task performance (CTP).

Germline variants in CDKN2A wild-type melanoma prone families.

Mol Oncol

March 2025

Department of Clinical Science, K.G. Jebsen Center for Genome-Directed Cancer Therapy, University of Bergen, Bergen, Norway.

Germline pathogenic variants in CDKN2A are well established as an underlying cause of familial malignant melanoma. While pathogenic variants in other genes have also been linked to melanoma, most familial cases remain unexplained. We assessed pathogenic germline variants in 360 cancer-related genes in 56 Norwegian melanoma-prone families.

A 9-year-old mixed breed cat with a history of recurrent ulcerated skin lesions was diagnosed with nocardiosis. Three months after initiating potentiated sulfonamide treatment, the cat developed goitrous hypothyroidism, characterized by palpable enlargement of both thyroid lobes, low serum concentrations of total thyroxine (T4) and free thyroxine (fT4), and high serum thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH) concentration. Thyroid scintigraphy identified symmetrical enlargement of both thyroid lobes, with increased radionuclide (Tc-pertechnetate) uptake.

Background: Peri-implantitis represents a significant challenge in dental implantology, characterized by inflammatory reactions around osseointegrated dental implants that lead to progressive alveolar bone loss.

Objectives: To generate a scoping review that evaluates the efficacy of implantoplasty and Er:YAG laser therapies in managing peri-implantitis by synthesizing recent evidence on their impact on key clinical parameters-including probing depth reduction, bleeding on probing improvement, and marginal bone level stabilization-and to explore the potential synergistic benefits of combining these modalities for enhanced treatment outcomes.

Material And Methods: A comprehensive search was conducted in PubMed, EMBASE, the Cochrane Library, and Web of Science for studies published from January 2018 to the present.
