Human existence is shaped by interconnected patterns and repetitions that unfold in rhythmic cycles, from biological functions to socially constructed behaviors. While innate (physiological) and natural (environmental) cycles remain fixed, self-constructed cycles, such as routines and habits, are more dynamic, shaped by human agency. These repetitive behaviors often enhance efficiency, goal achievement, well-being, and stress reduction. However, over-reliance on them can lead to rigidity, inhibiting innovation, serendipity, and adaptability. In an era of rapid technological change, the highly routinized lifestyle of the industrial age may no longer be optimal. Drawing insights from a systems-thinking perspective, we reconceptualize routines and habits as dynamic constructs that offer both stability and adaptability in shaping human behavior. This paper contributes to the academic discourse on temporal structures and innovation by critically examining how routines function as both enablers and constraints in a rapidly evolving world, offering practical insights into fostering greater flexibility in behavioral and adaptive patterns.

Background And Aims: Hepatitis E virus (HEV), similar to hepatitis A virus (HAV), has been linked to cases associated with mussel consumption, and several studies have detected HEV in commercially available mussels. While extensive data exists on HEV contamination in mussels from tropical regions, the Mediterranean Sea, and the North Sea, there is a lack of information regarding the potential risk posed by common mussels (Mytilidae) from the Baltic Sea. Furthermore, no experimental studies have investigated the ability of Baltic Sea mussels to be infected with HEV.

Introduction: During the summer holidays, children often demonstrate reduced physical activity and poorer dietary habits, largely attributed to the lack of structured routines and supervision that school provides. Summer camps have the potential to offer youth engaging and organized activities and serve as an environment for promoting healthy lifestyle habits. This paper presents the protocol for the evaluation of the Power Up program, a study which aims to evaluate counselors' satisfaction with the Power Up services, trainings, and tools, their engagement in the program, as well as their self-efficacy and intention to promote physical activity, nutrition, and well-being through the camp environment.

Integrative medicine (ie, combining conventional and complementary therapies) offers a holistic approach that significantly enhances pediatric care. The WINSS (well-being, interactions and inflammation, nutrition, sleep, and steps) program, initiated in March 2023, applies this approach by addressing physical, emotional, developmental, and lifestyle aspects of children's health. Evidence highlights the impact of lifestyle modifications on long-term health, particularly for children, who benefit from proactive preventive measures.
