Article Synopsis
  • The study aimed to identify factors influencing early breast development in girls, potential risks for converting from precocious thelarche (PT) to idiopathic central precocious puberty (ICPP), and timely intervention methods to minimize ICPP cases.
  • Researchers analyzed data from 50 children with PT and 50 control subjects, measuring various hormones and vitamin D levels over a year to see their relationship with early breast development.
  • Findings indicated that factors like vitamin D deficiency, obesity, screen time, dietary habits, and emotional sensitivity could contribute to early breast development, emphasizing the need for monitoring and addressing these factors to promote healthy growth in children.

Nuclear receptors are among one of the major transcriptional factors that induces gene regulation in the nucleus. Liver X receptor (LXR) is a transcription factor which regulates essential lipid homeostasis in the body including fatty acid, cholesterol and phospholipid synthesis. Liver X receptor-retinoid X receptor (LXR-RXR) heterodimer is activated by either of the ligand binding on LXR or RXR.

Aspergillus fumigatus is an important opportunistic fungal pathogen and causes invasive pulmonary aspergillosis in conditions with compromised innate antifungal immunity, including chronic granulomatous disease, which results from inherited deficiency of the superoxide-generating leukocyte NADPH oxidase 2 (NOX2). Derivative oxidants have both antimicrobial and immunoregulatory activity and, in the context of A. fumigatus, contribute to both fungal killing and dampening inflammation induced by fungal cell walls.

Nardilysin (NRDC) has been shown to be involved in post-translational histone modifications, in addition to enhancement in ectodomain shedding of membrane-anchored protein, which play significant roles in various pathophysiology, including glucose homeostasis, inflammatory diseases and cancer. The present study sought to determine roles of NRDC in the liver on lipid and lipoprotein metabolism. We established liver-specific NRDC deficient mice by use of NRD1 floxed mice and albumin promoter-Cre recombinase (Cre) transgenic mice, and found that their serum low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol levels were significantly lower than those in control littermate mice.
