Advances in single-cell technology have enabled the detailed mapping of testicular cell transcriptomes, which is essential for understanding spermatogenesis. However, the fragmented nature of age-specific data from various literature sources has hindered comprehensive analysis. To overcome this, the Human Testis Database (HumanTestisDB) was developed, consolidating multiple human testicular sequencing datasets to address this limitation. Through extensive investigation, 38 unique cell types were identified, providing a detailed perspective on cellular variety. Furthermore, the database systematically categorizes samples into eight developmental stages, offering a structured framework to comprehend the temporal dynamics of testicular development. Each stage features comprehensive maps of cell-cell interactions, elucidating the complex communication network inside the testicular microenvironment at particular developmental stages. Moreover, by facilitating comparisons of interactions among various cell types at different stages, the database permits examining alterations that transpire during critical transitions in spermatogenesis. HumanTestisDB, available at https://shalab.njmu.edu.cn/humantestisdb, offers vital insights into testicular transcriptomics and interactions, serving as an essential resource for advancing research in reproductive biology.

Melatonin (Mel), a classical antioxidant, has the potential to mediate ferroptosis. Cadmium (Cd) poses a substantial threat to the male reproductive system, as it can induce testicular injury by triggering ferroptosis. The study aimed to explore the protective role and mechanism of Mel in Cd-induced ferroptosis in spermatogonia (spg).

The effect of electromagnetic exposure on health is becoming increasingly important as it affects many aspects of human life and health. However, the effects in environmental electromagnetic fields on the male reproductive system were still controversial, and the impacts of long-term microwave exposure on testicular tissue remain poorly defined. This study exposed rats to 30 mW/cm of microwave radiation (2.

Sperm motility is a critical indicator of semen quality and determines the reproduction performance in male poultry. However, compared to chickens and ducks, very little is known about the physiological basis of varying levels of sperm motility as well the underlying regulatory mechanisms in geese. To address this, in the present study, a systematic comparison of semen quality parameters and histomorphological characteristics and genome-wide transcriptomic profiles of testes and epididymis were performed in ganders with high and low sperm motility.

Mammalian spermatogenesis is a complex biological process that is regulated by multiple types of cells. The heterogeneity of these cells poses a challenge for analyzing different cell types at different developmental stages. To characterize the transcriptomic landscape of porcine spermatogenesis and identify potential marker genes for spermatogonia, an unbiased transcriptomic study of spermatogenesis in neonatal and sexually mature six-month-old Meihua pigs was performed using 10× Genomics single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq).
