The recognition that researcher discretion coupled with unconscious biases and motivated reasoning sometimes leads to false findings ("p-hacking") led to the broad embrace of study preregistration and other open-science practices in experimental research. Paradoxically, the preregistration of quasi-experimental studies remains uncommon although such studies involve far more discretionary decisions and are the most prevalent approach to making causal claims in the social sciences. I discuss several forms of recent empirical evidence indicating that questionable research practices contribute to the comparative unreliability of quasi-experimental research and advocate for adopting the preregistration of such studies.

Background: Affect dynamics, or variations in emotional experiences over time, are linked to psychological health and well-being, with moderate emotional variations indicating good psychophysical health. Given the impact of emotional state on cardiac variability, our objective was to develop a quantitative method to measure affect dynamics for better understanding emotion temporal management in Anorexia Nervosa (AN).

Methods: The study proposed an experimental and methodological approach to evaluate physiological affect dynamics in clinical settings.

Ectopic adrenocorticotropic hormone secretion (EAS) is responsible for approximately 10%-18% of Cushing's syndrome cases. Thymic neuroendocrine tumors (NETs) comprise 5%-16% of EAS; therefore, they are very rare and the data about this particular tumors is scarce. We present a case of a 34-year-old woman with a rapid onset of severe hypercortisolism in April 2016.

Background: High-definition-tDCS (HD-tDCS) is a recent technology that allows for localized cortical stimulation, but has not yet been investigated as an augmentative therapy while targeting the left temporoparietal cortex in logopenic variant PPA (lvPPA). The changes in neuronal oscillatory patterns and resting-state functional connectivity in response to HD-tDCS also remains poorly understood.

Objective: We sought to investigate the effects of HD-tDCS with phonologic-based language training on language, cognition, and resting-state functional connectivity in lvPPA.
