Schwannoma is a well encapsulated benign nerve sheath tumor of neuroectodermal origin with an indolent progression unless associated with malignancy. Schwannomas arise from the Schwann cells as do neurofibromas and are usually solitary except in Von Recklinghausen's disease. The occurrence of a schwannoma in the head and neck region is about 25%; however, submandibular gland schwannoma is a rare form of an extracranial neurogenic tumor arising from peripheral, central, or autonomic nerves. We report a rare case of a submandibular schwannoma in a patient with neurofibromatosis 1 which presented as a painless swelling in the submandibular region, treated by total excision of the submandibular gland. There was no postoperative deficit or recurrence within 3 months of follow-up. Our findings in this case suggest schwannoma of the salivary gland as a differential diagnosis of swelling in the submandibular area although rare, especially in a patient with neurofibromatosis 1.

Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium peel ('Chenpi' tea) is a popular food-medicine functional tea, which mainly existing unsteamed (CRP) and steamed (SCRP) products. In this study, a combination of electronic nose and GC-MS analysis showed that aged SCRP had a more intense aroma, which was attributed to the significant reduction or disappearance of components representing refreshing aroma, such as β-Myrcene and d-Limonene, while some components with thick odors like Valencene were newly formed. For the 'dryness'-like effect, the weaker effect of SCRP relative to CRP was initially confirmed in rats, as characterized by water intake, submandibular gland index, and hemorheology, consistenting with the expression trend of aquaporin (AQP) 2, 3 and 5 mRNA.

Objective: Hyposalivation is one of the most common oral complications of type 2 diabetes (T2D). Sex hormone levels, which have been associated with hyposalivation, salivary gland atrophy, and inflammation, can be altered in T2D. However, the relationship between androgen levels and hyposalivation in the context of T2D is unknown.

Marginal mandibular nerve palsy is among the most common facial nerve iatrogenic injuries and has significant functional and aesthetic consequences. In a case series of four patients (n = 4) with iatrogenic and acquired marginal mandibular nerve injuries, we performed a cervical branch facial nerve (VII) fascicular transfer to the marginal mandibular nerve (VII) for late and chronic facial palsies. Pre-and post-op videos were then analysed to determine the return lower lip depression, using the Terzis lower lip score and smile index was used for objective assessment.
