This EEG and eye-tracking study investigated affective influences on cognitive preparation using a precued pro-/antisaccade task with emotional faces as cues. Negative information interfered with preparatory processes with high but not low executive function load.

The functional neuro-anatomical model of attachment (NAMA) proposes that the balance between affective evaluation and cognitive control systems can be modulated by adult attachment styles and attachment priming. However, little is known about the characteristics of emotional conflict control that are modulated by attachment patterns. Accordingly, the present study adopted two experiments to investigate the associations between attachment styles, attachment (in)security priming, and emotional conflict control.

The crisis of metabolic and mental disorders continues to escalate worldwide. A growing body of research highlights the influence of tryptophan and its metabolites, such as serotonin, beyond their traditional roles in neural signaling. Serotonin acts as a key neurotransmitter within the brain-gut-microbiome axis, a critical bidirectional communication network affecting both metabolism and behavior.

Emotions remarkably impact our creative minds; nevertheless, a comprehensive mapping of their underlying neural mechanisms remains elusive. Therefore, we examined the influence of emotion induction on ideational originality and its associated neural dynamics. Participants were randomly presented with three short videos with sad, neutral, and happy content.

Neuropathic pain involves complex cortical mechanisms, yet the role of the medial secondary visual cortex (V2M) remains poorly understood. We hypothesized that glutamatergic neurons in V2M (V2M) contribute to pain modulation and explored their functional involvement in both normal and neuropathic pain states. Here, we found that V2M could be activated by peripheral stimulation under normal conditions.

The goals of the current study were to determine the efficacy in major depressive disorder (MDD) of a shortened, computer-augmented cognitive behavioral therapy (CCBT) protocol and to determine brain plasticity effects following CCBT. Seventy-two MDD participants were randomized to CCBT or waitlist control groups and compared to 40 healthy controls (HCs). Functional MRI data were collected for all participants and repeated for patients following CCBT (five therapist-administered manualized CBT sessions plus computer training exercises).
