Background: Trimethylamine-N-oxide (TMAO) is a potential cardiovascular biomarker in Chinese people without a defined plasma reference range. Its clinical application is restricted due to incomplete knowledge of pre-analytical factors' impact on measurement.

Methods: Assess the effects of standard anticoagulants and pre-analytical factors on TMAO test outcomes to determine optimal conditions. Plasma TMAO levels in 649 healthy Chinese individuals were analyzed using a non-parametric approach to set a 95% reference interval. Examine how age, gender, region, and BMI affect TMAO levels and their correlation with clinical metrics like blood pressure, glucose, lipemia, and liver-kidney function.

Results: Anticoagulants had minimal effect on TMAO assay results. TMAO concentrations remain stable during sample storage at 4 °C for 24 h, 25 °C for 12 h, or 35 °C for six h before centrifugation -prolonged storage at 25 °C or 35 °C results in changes below the acceptable limit. The 95 % reference interval for plasma TMAO is 5.72 µM, with a median of 1.70 µM and an interquartile range of 1.09-2.53 µM. Age, sex, region, and BMI do not affect TMAO levels. SBP, FPG, TC, and BUN positively correlate, while HDL-C, ALT, AST, and TBIL negatively correlate with TMAO.

Conclusions: This guides for selecting blood collection tubes for TMAO detection and optimal pre- centrifugation storage conditions. We set a 95% reference interval for plasma TMAO in healthy adults in China and examined the correlation between TMAO levels and demographic and biochemical markers.

Purpose: Total knee arthroplasty (TKA) in patients who underwent previous knee surgeries can be a challenging procedure both technically and for the complication rate. Conversion TKA is affected by a higher risk of infection compared to primary TKA. The aims of this meta-analysis are i) to compare the infectious risk among patients undergoing TKA after a prior hardware implantation, evaluating removal vs maintenance of the hardware, and ii) within the removal group, to compare staged vs concurrent procedure.

The fundamental skills for motor coordination and motor control emerge through development. Neurodevelopmental disorders such as developmental coordination disorder (DCD) lead to impaired acquisition of motor skills. This study investigated motor behaviors that reflect the core symptoms of human DCD through the use of BXD recombinant inbred strains of mice that are known to have divergent phenotypes in many behavioral traits, including motor activity.

Background: The association between Down syndrome (DS) and hyperuricemia has been described for a long time. The cut-off points for hyperuricemia should be determined as the upper limits of the uric acid (UA) level according to age- and gender-specific reference UA values prepared for children with DS.

Methods: This study included 238 children (140 males and 98 females) with DS, below 21 years of age, who visited our medical center from May 1991 to June 31, 2018.

There are approximately 537 million adults with diabetes worldwide, and insulin still plays an important role in its treatment. However, the long-term use of insulin imposes a significant financial burden on patients. This study aims to explore the pharmacokinetic (PK)/ pharmacodynamic (PD) parameters of generic premixed insulin lispro 25 (25% insulin lispro and 75% protamine zinc lispro) and evaluate the bio-equivalence between generic and brand-name preparations to reduce medical costs while ensuring the effectiveness and safety of treatment.

Objective: This study aimed to assess the diagnostic accuracy of a novel semiautomated method to calculate relative myocardial wall uptake (RCU) of 99mTechnetium-pyrophosphate SPECT/CT in suspected cardiac transthyretin amyloidosis (ATTR).

Methods: Prospective analysis of 108 participants with suspected ATTR. Using novel software, we quantified radiopharmaceutical uptake in the wall of each chamber of the heart at 3 h, calculating RCU for combined ventricular (RCU-V) and whole-heart (RCU-W) measures as a ratio over physiological blood-pool activity.
