We present a fully implantable, inductively powered optogenetic stimulator that enhances stimulation efficacy and pathway specificity while maximizing energy efficiency and channel-count scalability. By leveraging opsins' photon integration properties with raster scanning and Poisson-coded stimulation, we achieve a uniform power profile and reduce wiring complexity, enabling a scalable system that supports more stimulation channels without compromising safety or functionality, improving prosthetic vision resolution. We also employed a compact and power-efficient (0.026 and 1.02 W overhead) SNR-boosted ADC-less spike detection circuit to adapt each LED's light intensity based on real-time feedback from RGC spiking cells. This closed-loop adaptivity adjusts stimulation to opsin distribution variations, over time and across different patients, ensuring effective and consistent stimulation across patients, enhancing both energy efficiency and visual perception quality. The 3 3 IC, fabricated in 180nm CMOS, is coupled with a 100-channel custom optrode array fabricated using an InGaN process on a sapphire substrate. Experimental results demonstrate circuit-level performance, system-level efficacy, and in-vitro validation. Comparison tables highlight our work's advantages over state-of-the-art implantable spike detection systems and retinal prostheses.

In order to clarify the pre-exist immunity background of different human coronaviruses (HCoV), this study investigated the positive rate of spike (S) protein antibodies of HCoV, including HCoV- severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) -associated coronavirus (SARS-CoV-1), severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2), Middle East respiratory syndrome coronavirus (MERS-CoV), HCoV-229E, HCoV-NL63, HCoV-HKU1 and HCoV-OC43, before and after the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) outbreak. We utilized pseudotyped virus-based neutralization assays (PBNA) or enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays (ELISA) to detect antibody levels against HCoV in serum samples collected in 2009-2010 and 2023. The PBNA results showed that neutralizing antibodies against SARS-CoV-1 and the MERS-CoV were negative.

Highly efficient isolation and multistep analysis of tumor cells from whole blood.

We present a microfluidic solution for improved tumor cell analysis based on selection-free isolation of nucleated cells from whole blood. It consists of a high-density silicon microcavity array combined with the novel fluidic strategy of microfluidic decanting. This enables multistep on-chip staining protocols comprising sample loading-blocking-extracellular staining-fixation-permeabilization and intracellular staining to quantify tumor cells.

Antibodies in human milk protect infants against infections, but currently no assay is described that is able to simultaneously measure all 9 antibody isotypes and subclasses immunoglobulins in human fluids, such as human milk. Our cohort "Protecting against Respiratory tract Infections through human Milk Analysis" (PRIMA) is focused on the relation between the occurrence of respiratory infections during the first year of life and concentration of maternal antibodies in breastfeeding. We developed and successfully validated a multiplex assay that is able to measure all nine antibody isotypes and subclasses in human plasma and milk (regardeless of the pathogen specificity), using a small sample volume.
