The thoracic paravertebral block (TPVB), while relatively safe, can be associated with significant complications, including inadvertent vascular injury. We describe an ultrasound-guided TPVB where a pulsatile artery was identified between the two transverse processes and in close proximity to the T7-8 paravertebral space, likely the dorsal branch of the posterior intercostal artery. A similar artery was also noted one intercostal space cephalad and caudal of this area. The use of ultrasound allowed for real-time visualization of the needle, minimizing the risk of arterial puncture.

Background: Even though laparoscopic nephrectomy improves the quality of postoperative recovery, it still causes moderate to severe pain. Our objective was to determine whether serratus intercostal plane block (SIPB) was noninferior to posterior quadratus lumborum block (QLB) in terms of pain control and quality of recovery.
Methods: This multicentre, controlled, randomized, blinded study had a sample size of 120 patients who were randomly assigned to SIPB, QLB, and control groups prior to scheduled laparoscopic nephrectomy.

A lung abscess is a microbial infection of the lungs. An empyema is an accumulation of pus in the pleural space that increases after infection of either lung or pleura generally. The sign of empyema is similar to that of lung abscess in that the patient has complaints of high-grade fever, chest pain, and productive cough.

Objective: The incidence of osteoporosis complicated by vertebral compression fractures (OVCF) has been increasing annually, and percutaneous vertebroplasty (PVP) is the main surgical approach for it. It was to evaluate the use of a small needle knife (SNF) in conjunction with PVP to assess changes in inflammatory response, Th17 cell function, and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) parameters in OVCF patients.
Methods: A retrospective analysis was conducted using the clinical data of 138 patients with OVCF, who were categorized into PVP group (n = 65) and PVP + SNF group (n = 73).
