Background: The decline in testosterone levels among older men remains a subject of debate. While some cross-sectional and longitudinal studies have reported a decrease in testosterone with advancing age, others have not observed this trend. In this study, we aimed to evaluate testosterone levels and identify predictors of low testosterone in an age-stratified cohort of men.

Center for Clinical and Epidemiologic Research, Beijing An Zhen Hospital, Capital Medical University, Beijing, China; Beijing Institute of Heart, Lung and Blood Vessel Diseases, Beijing, China; National Clinical Research Center of Cardiovascular Diseases, Beijing, China; The Key Laboratory of Remodeling-Related Cardiovascular Diseases, Ministry of Education, Beijing, China; The Beijing Municipal Key Laboratory of Clinical Epidemiology, Beijing, China. Electronic address:

Background: Ambient temperatures and PM can trigger myocardial infarction (MI), while little is known about the complex interplay between these two factors on MI, especially morbidity.

Objectives: To investigate bidirectional effect modifications of temperature and PM on MI morbidity and mortality.

Methods: A time-stratified case-crossover study was conducted utilizing high-resolution data of temperature and PM, along with 498,077 MI cases from the citywide registry in Beijing, China from 2007 to 2021.

Integrated real-time intelligent control for wastewater treatment plants: Data-driven modeling for enhanced prediction and regulatory strategies.

Water Res

January 2025

State Key Laboratory of Urban Water Resource and Environment, School of Environment, Harbin Institute of Technology, Harbin, 150090, China. Electronic address:

Both mechanical models and machine learning-based models are widely utilized for real-time dynamic control; however, their implementation in the water sector often incurs significant data and computational costs. To address these challenges, this study introduces an innovative feature extraction method designed to enhance the cost-effectiveness of dynamic control in wastewater treatment plants. The proposed method extracts dynamic features from time-series data of key substrate variables to construct a data-driven model and develop real-time control strategies.

Drivers analysis and future scenario-based predictions of nutrient loads in key lakes and reservoirs of the Yangtze River Catchment.

J Environ Manage

January 2025

State Key Laboratory of Environment Criteria and Risk Assessment, Chinese Research Academy of Environmental Sciences, Beijing, 100012, China. Electronic address:

The excessive nutrient loading in lakes and reservoirs poses significant threats to water quality and ecological health, especially under the influence of global climate change and intensified human activities. This study focuses on the long-term trends in nutrient content and ratios, as well as their driving factors in six major lakes and reservoirs (Chaohu Lake, Danjiangkou Reservoir, Dianchi Lake, Dongtinghu Lake, Poyanghu Lake, and Taihu Lake) within the Yangtze River Catchment from 2002 to 2021. Utilizing Redundancy Analysis, Random Forest and Generalized Additive Model, we identify the shifts in natural and socio-economic factors influencing nutrient concentrations and predict future trends under various scenarios.
