Betulinic acid isolated from Platanus orientalis bark was modified in a one pot reaction to furnish twelve urea derivatives. The synthesized derivatives were tested against an array of cancer cell lines, colon HCT-116, breast MCF-7, pancreatic MIA PaCa-2 and prostate PC-3 cancer cell lines. Among the synthesized compounds BA1 exhibited potent anti-cancer activity with IC50 of 0.84 µM and 3.87 µM against HCT-116 and PC-3 using doxorubicin as standard. Our study demonstrate anti-proliferative and anti-metastatic role of BA1 thus, inducing apoptosis in prostrate and colorectal cell lines. Keywords Betulinic acid • urea • colorectal cancer• prostate cancer • apoptosis.

Background: Metabolic-associated fatty liver disease (MAFLD) is a prevalent chronic liver condition globally, characterized by suboptimal treatment outcomes. Traditional therapies often fail to address the multifaceted pathogenesis of MAFLD, which involves lipid metabolism, inflammation, and gut-liver axis dysregulation. JiGuCao Capsule formula (JCF), a patented Chinese medicine, has demonstrated clinical efficacy in liver disease treatment, indicating its potential as a new therapeutic option for MAFLD.

Background: The atherosclerosis process relates to the dysfunction of different cells in the plaque microenvironment. The vascular smooth muscle cells (VSMCs) play an important role in atherosclerosis. Since the FoxO family is reported to control cell growth, thus the aim of this study was to investigate the effects of Heparin, Betulinic acid, and Ibrutinib on the FoxO1/pFoxO1 axis in vascular smooth muscle cells.

The aim of this study was to improve the penetration of betulinic acid (BA) into skin efficiently by incorporating it into a nanostructured lipid carrier (NLC)-based gel. BA-NLC was prepared by the melt-emulsification and low-temperature solidification method. The optimized formulation was incorporated into the hydrogel and evaluated for pH, in vitro release, occlusion factor, and dermatokinetics.

The research constructed a co-assembly nanoparticles (NPs) of ursolic acid (UA) and betulinic acid (BA) as carriers to load the active substance curcumin (CCM) by co-precipitation method, aiming to improve the stability and bioavailability of CCM in the human body and enabling CCM to play more functions in the production of functional foods. The average particle size of UA-BA-CCM NPs was 222.6 nm and zeta potential was -26.
