In 1972, mixed connective tissue disease (MCTD) was proposed by Sharp et al. as a disease entity characterized by overlapping clinical features of systemic lupus erythematosus, systemic sclerosis (SSc), and polymyositis, as well as high titers of serum anti-U1-RNP antibody. However, the disease concept of MCTD is sometimes far from being sufficiently acknowledged. We, therefore, reported the revised diagnostic criteria for MCTD 2019 by consensus method and evaluation using clinical data of typical and borderline cases of MCTD. The disease entity of MCTD and its difference from SSc can be further emphasized by 1) microvasculopathy detected using nailfold videocapillaroscopy, 2) statistical clustering based on immunophenotypic analysis using flow cytometry, 3) immune cell-specific gene regulation, 4) clinical relevance of anti-SMN complex antibodies.

This study introduces an eco-friendly approach to fabricating superstrong, core-shell, composite microcapsules, offering a sustainable alternative to traditional insoluble microplastic-based materials like melamine-formaldehyde. These microcapsules were engineered with a thick CaCO shell formed via crystal ripening in the presence of water-soluble poly(acrylic acid), encasing a hexylsalicylate oil core armored by hydrophilic SiO nanoparticles. An additional polydopamine layer was deposited via oxidative autopolymerization at pH 8.

News media has long been recognised for its important role in shaping public discourse and socio-political action relating to climate change. This is particularly true of opinion journalism, which reflects elite voices. Within the climate change communications literature, an important shift marks a turn away from outright denial of the existence of climate change towards delaying narratives.

The goals of the current study were to determine the efficacy in major depressive disorder (MDD) of a shortened, computer-augmented cognitive behavioral therapy (CCBT) protocol and to determine brain plasticity effects following CCBT. Seventy-two MDD participants were randomized to CCBT or waitlist control groups and compared to 40 healthy controls (HCs). Functional MRI data were collected for all participants and repeated for patients following CCBT (five therapist-administered manualized CBT sessions plus computer training exercises).
