With this study, we aim to describe the epidemiological, clinical, and therapeutic characteristics of the patients to determine whether our data on stroke care and outcomes align with those from other Latin American countries and nations with more advanced healthcare systems. Methods This prospective study included 214 stroke patients admitted to three healthcare centers in Panama between January and December 2023.

Introduction: Latin America is burdened by high levels of violence. Although boys and men often experience more violence and fatalities, girls and women face a greater risk of being killed by family members or intimate partners due to their gender, a phenomenon known as femicide. Our study estimates femicide rates in Latin America across age groups, examining city-level variations and temporal trends.

In May 2024, the Pan American Health Organization issued alerts of increased numbers of cases of Oropouche fever in non-Amazonian regions in Latin America. Following this, an association between Oropouche fever and Guillain-Barré syndrome was reported in three patients in Santiago de Cuba, Cuba. Neurological manifestations have rarely been described in relation to Oropouche virus infection.
