Background: Fibroblast Growth Factor 9 (Fgf9) and its paralog Fgf20 are expressed in the developing stomach. We investigate the role of these growth factors during gastric development, using combinations of null alleles.

Results: Analysis of expression databases showed that Fgf9 is expressed in gastric endoderm and surrounding mesoderm such as the mesothelium as early as E8.5, and Fgf20 is expressed in the gastric progenitors of the glandular stomach. To explore whether Fgf9 and Fgf20 are important for gastric development, we examined embryonic stomachs from Fgf9 and Fgf20 null (Fgf9 and Fgf20) mice during development. At E18.5, Fgf9 stomachs were hypoplastic, lacking the squamous forestomach. No changes to glandular stomach differentiation were observed using representative markers of glandular lineages. Fgf9 stomachs were smaller during early development (E12.5 and E15.5). RNA-seq analysis of Fgf9 mice at E15.5 showed that squamous-epithelium-associated transcripts were underrepresented, and glandular epithelial transcripts were overrepresented. Analysis of gastric patterning at E12.5 revealed loss of early squamous progenitors in the epithelium, characterized by loss of SOX2; GATA4 cells. We further show that loss of Fgf20 does not alone impact gastric development nor modify the Fgf9 phenotype.

Conclusions: Fgf9 drives gastric growth and squamous epithelial identity during gastric development.

Isoflavones are currently being investigated by researchers in order to demonstrate their ability to prevent the proliferation of cancer cells. The current review aimed to demonstrate the potential of isoflavones to eliminate cancerous cells in the stomach, liver, lung, breast, and prostate, as their anticancer properties are due to the ability to block the signaling pathways of the extracellular signal-controlled kinase (MAPK/ERK) and proteasome (PI3K/AKT/mTOR). Isoflavones can inhibit the cell division of various cancer cells.

This two-sequence, three-period study (NCT04645940) was designed to evaluate the effect of food and concomitant rabeprazole, a proton pump inhibitor, on the pharmacokinetics (PK) and safety of fruquintinib and its metabolite M11 after a single oral dose of fruquintinib 5 mg in healthy subjects. In the food effect treatment periods, 14 subjects were randomized in a 1:1 ratio utilizing a two-sequence (fed/fasted vs. fasted/fed), two-period, cross-over design.

, also known as the brown stomach worm, causes significant pathology in the abomasum, resulting in production and nutritional losses in cattle. Alternative control measures, such as vaccination, are urgently needed because of rapidly growing anthelmintic drug resistance. There is a need to understand host responses to the infection, especially immune responses, to advance vaccine discovery and design.

Stomach adenocarcinoma (STAD) has high incidence and mortality rates. Long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) and angiogenesis are closely related to the pathogenesis and metastasis of STAD. Recently, emerging evidence demonstrated that DNA methylation plays crucial roles in the development of STAD.
