Objective: To determine if the PinkWave (PW) light-curing unit (LCU) that emits red and infrared (IR) light as well as violet and blue light improves the depth of cure and degree of conversion (DC) of resin-based composites (RBCs).
Methods: The DC of RBCs at various distances was calculated from data collected at a rate of 13 Hz using attenuated total reflectance Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy. To assess the contributions of the different wavelengths of light, optical filters were used to block the red and IR light from the PW. The depth of cure was also evaluated by photocuring RBC samples in both metal and plastic molds for 20 s at a 0 mm distance. The length of resin remaining was then measured and divided by 2. Starting from a baseline of 32 °C, the temperature rise during photocuring was measured in the plastic and metal rings reproducing the conditions used to measure the depth of cure and the DC respectively.
Results: In general, the PW produced greater depth of cure, however the use of metal molds greatly reduced this effect because the temperature increase was reduced. Increasing the distance by up to 4 mm from the light tip produced a significant increase in the DC for the RBCs photocured with the PW, but not for the G4. The wavelength of the blue peak (peaking at 473 nm) from the PW was longer compared to the control LCU (peaking at 448 nm). This 25 nm difference negatively affected the photocuring efficiency of some resins.
Significance: The internal optics and the additional red and IR wavelengths from the PW significantly increased the temperature in the RBCs and increased both depth of cure and the DC.

Background: Kidney transplant recipients with graft loss (KTR-GL) are an increasing group of patients whose care needs are largely unmet. The lack of patient perspectives is a key research gap. We conducted an in-depth exploration of the experiences of KTR-GL to identify their healthcare needs.

Objective Proper seal achieved via placement of an effective intraorifice barrier curtails the occurrence of post-bleaching consequences and reinforces the cervical tooth structure. Hence, our present study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of three different light-cure biomaterials as an intraorifice barrier. Methodology Forty-eight sound human premolars were obtained, and root canal treatment procedures were accomplished according to the standard protocol.

Alzheimer's disease (AD) affects millions of individuals worldwide and is considered a serious global health issue due to its gradual neuro-degenerative effects on cognitive abilities such as memory, thinking, and behavior. There is no cure for this disease but early detection along with a supportive care plan may aid in improving the quality of life for patients. Automated detection of AD is challenging because its symptoms vary in patients due to genetic, environmental, or other co-existing health conditions.

Human immunodeficiency virus type 1 (HIV-1) is a retrovirus that infects multiple immune cell types and integrates into host cell DNA termed provirus. Under antiretroviral control, provirus in cells is able to evade targeting by both host immune surveillance and antiretroviral drug regimens. Additionally, the provirus remains integrated for the life of the cell, and clonal expansion establishes a persistent reservoir.

Background: Cancer and its management affect the quality of life (QOL) and lived experiences of adolescent survivors.
Aims: We describe the QOL and document the lived experiences of adolescent cancer survivors at a tertiary hospital in southwestern Uganda.
Methods And Results: We conducted a mixed-methods, cross-sectional study using descriptive quantitative interviews using the summarized World Health Organization QOL questionnaire and qualitative in-depth interviews with adolescent cancer survivors at Mbarara Regional Referral Hospital in southwestern Uganda in July and August 2023.
