Double binary state diagrams of the benchmark semi-crystalline conjugated polymer PBTTT and its alkoxy derivatives PBTTT-OR-R and PBTTT-(OR), mixed with PCBM, are constructed using Rapid Heat-Cool Differential Scanning Calorimetry and T-resolved synchrotron X-Ray Diffraction. The polymerization method is adapted to ensure the absence of homocouplings and obtain reliable state diagrams, supported by Flory-Huggins calculations. Co-crystallization always occurs at a 45:55 w/w% polymer:PCBM mixing ratio. All co-crystals remain stable up to 260‒280 °C in a wide composition range, and for the first time, it is proven that they show incongruent (peritectic) melting. The three state diagrams show one eutectic, i.e., between polymer and co-crystal in the case of PBTTT and PBTTT-OR-R, and between polymer and PCBM for PBTTT-(OR). The latter eutectic beyond 280 °C leads to a reversible "solid-solid" transformation with the corresponding co-crystal. Isothermal treatments, at the onset temperature of co-crystallization during non-isothermal cooling, show no loss of co-crystal quality in combination with PCBM perfectioning for fullerene-rich PBTTT:PCBM and PBTTT-OR-R:PCBM mixtures, whereas PBTTT-(OR):PCBM, as well as Stille-polymerized PBTTT-OR-R:PCBM with homocouplings, show suppression of co-crystallization with the formation of separate crystals of polymer and PCBM. These opposing effects are explained by the state diagrams, showcasing their substantial value in selecting efficient annealing conditions.

Subepicardial adipose genes contribute to the deterioration of heart failure preserved ejection fraction.

Front Cardiovasc Med

February 2025

Tianjin Key Laboratory of Cardiovascular Emergency and Critical Care, Tianjin Municipal Science and Technology Bureau, Tianjin, China.

Background: The mortality of patients with acute myocardial infarction (MI) raised rapidly in last decade and obesity are becoming the major cause to CAD progression, thus inducing heart failure preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF). However, why visceral adipocytes show different effects on healthy and ageing cardiomyocytes is less known.

Methods: GSE251971 was downloaded and Venn diagram between visceral adipocyte genes genes and DEGs was performed to obtain visceral adipocyte-associated DEGs in heart failure.

Several reports about infinite-layer nickelate thin films suggest that the superconducting critical temperature versus chemical doping phase diagram has a dome-like shape, similar to cuprates. Here, a highly reproducible superconducting state in undoped PrNiO thin films grown on SrTiO are demonstrated. Scanning transmission electron microscopy measurements show coherent infinite-layer phase with no visible stacking-fault defects, an overall high structural quality where possible unintentional chemical doping or interstitial oxygen, if present, sum well below the measurable threshold of the technique.

Background: Shi Zheng (SZ, syndrome of dampness) is a major syndrome type in traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), the ambiguity of its pathomechanism and the lack of blood diagnostic indicators have limited the understanding of the development of SZ.

Purpose: To explore the pathological mechanism of SZ and establish a symptom-centered diagnosis and treatment model.

Methods: We recruited 250 participants, including healthy individuals and patients diagnosed with SZ.

Paradigm for Finding d-Electron Heavy Fermions: The Case of Cr-doped CsFe_{2}As_{2}.

Phys Rev Lett

Laboratoire de Physique et Etude des Matériaux, UMR8213 CNRS/ESPCI/UPMC, Paris, France.

We define a general strategy for finding new heavy-fermionic materials without rare-earth elements: doping a Hund metal with pronounced orbital-selective correlations towards half-filling. We argue that in general band structures, a possible orbital-selective Mott transition is frustrated by interorbital hopping into heavy-fermion behavior-where d orbitals provide both the heavy and the light electrons-which is enhanced when approaching half-filling. This phase ultimately disappears due to magnetic correlations, as in a standard Doniach diagram.
