Endodontic-periodontal (endo-perio) lesions are commonly encountered in dental clinics, with patients typically presenting with acute pulpal pain, often accompanied by abscess formation and tooth mobility. Management generally involves root canal treatment (RCT) and, if required, surgical intervention. This article discusses a notable case of a 43-year-old male patient who presented with a chief complaint of pain and loose teeth in the upper left back region for the past 3 weeks. Phase I periodontal therapy was initiated, followed by RCT of teeth #21 to #25. However, 2 weeks later, the patient presented with swelling, prompting surgical excision and biopsy. Histopathological analysis revealed nonseptate hyphae with right-angle branching, indicative of mucormycosis.

Purpose: Medically tailored transitional foods (TFs) may be a clinically viable alternative to pureed consistency for individuals requiring texture-modified foods. However, little remains known about the performance of TFs during the swallow. The purpose of this investigation was to describe oropharyngeal swallowing physiology in patients with dysphagia during consumption of TFs as compared to pureed solids.

Background: This study aims to analyze the patient characteristics, clinical outcomes, and contemporary trends concerning type A aortic dissection (TAAD) in previous recipients of abdominal solid organ transplantation (ASOT) in the United States.
Methods: The National Inpatient Sample was queried to identify all patients aged ≥18 with TAAD and a history of ASOT (TAAD-ASOT) between 2002 and 2015Q3 using ICD-9 diagnosis and procedure codes. Baseline characteristics and in-hospital outcomes were compared between TAAD-ASOT patients and TAAD patients without a history of ASOT (TAAD-non-ASOT).

Pituitary neuroendocrine tumors (PitNETS) are common intracranial tumors, but extrasellar or ectopic PitNETS are very rare and supposed to originate from some pituitary remnants. They are mostly found in sphenoidal sinus. But particularly, ectopic clival PitNETS are highly aggressive and can cause bone invasion and can be misdiagnosed as other lesions of the skull base such as chordomas.

Background: Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) leads to rapid physiological and functional decline before causing untimely death. Current best-practice approaches to interdisciplinary care are unable to provide adequate monitoring of patients' health. Passive in-home sensor systems enable 24×7 health monitoring.

Background: Infection is a leading cause of death after pediatric heart transplants (PHTs). Understanding of common pathogens is needed to guide testing strategies and empiric antibiotic use.
Methods: We conducted a 3-center retrospective study of PHT recipients ≤18 years old presenting to cardiology clinics or emergency departments (EDs) from 2010 to 2018 for evaluation of suspected infections within 2 years of transplant.
