Positive temperature coefficient (PTC) materials exhibit significant potential in thermal management due to their adaptive temperature regulation. However, current PTC materials are often constrained in the thermal regulation within the low-temperature range due to the high Curie temperatures. Achieving low Curie temperatures often requires small-molecule polymer matrices, which can compromise mechanical properties and lead to phase change material leakage. To overcome this challenge, this study innovatively proposes a generalized design strategy for bi-continuous phase thermally controlled PTC composite materials (PTCCM) based on polyimide aerogel (PIA) encapsulation. PIA forms a continuous backbone structure, while 1-Tetradecanol serves as a fibrous phase change matrix. Additionally, multi-doped conductive fillers construct an efficient fiber bundle-like network. In the temperature range of 10-50 °C, the PTC strength achieves 3.55, with a low resistivity of 1.5 Ω m. Thanks to its stable PIA skeleton and perfect conductive network, PTCCM can accurately stabilize the device temperature at 29.5 ± 1.5 °C under different low-temperature environments and voltages. The temperature control accuracy is as high as 0.03 °C, presenting excellent cycling stability. These characteristics make it promising in meeting stringent thermal management demands.

In this work, the adsorption and freezing/melting processes on activated carbons of different chemical nature (different concentrations of oxygen surface groups) were investigated. The role of solvents (cyclohexane and water) in the adsorption of three benzene derivatives - phenol (P), 4-nitrophenol (4-NP), and nitrobenzene (NB) - was examined. To understand the mechanism of adsorbent-adsorbate-solvent interactions better thermal analysis (TA) coupled with quadrupole mass spectrometry (QMS) was applied.

Multiple spin reorientation transitions in Ga-substituted DyCrO.

Phys Chem Chem Phys

March 2025

Key Laboratory for Intelligent Sensing System and Security of Ministry of Education, School of Physics, Hubei University, Wuhan 430062, People's Republic of China.

Single-phase DyCrGaO (0 ≤ ≤ 0.5) samples were synthesized successfully by a sol-gel method. Magnetic measurement results indicate that the Ga-substituted samples exhibit multiple spin reorientation transitions ( → → → ), whereas the pure DyCrO sample does not exhibit any spin reorientation transition.

In recent years, the rapid development of two-dimensional magnetic materials has revolutionized the field of spintronics, driven by their unique ability to combine magnetism and electronic functionality at the atomic scale. Here, we investigate the monolayer CuCr2Se2X2 (X = Cl, Br, I), which exhibit robust ferromagnetic (FM) behavior and half-metallicity with 100% spin polarization. The strong FM coupling, mediated by superexchange interactions, is rooted in the unique electronic structure of the Cr d-orbitals.

Interface phenomena and emerging functionalities in ferroelectric oxide based heterostructures.

Chem Commun (Camb)

Capitalizing on the nonvolatile, nanoscale controllable polarization, ferroelectric perovskite oxides can be integrated with various functional materials for designing emergent phenomena enabled by charge, lattice, and polar symmetry mediated interfacial coupling, as well as for constructing novel energy-efficient electronics and nanophotonics with programmable functionalities. When prepared in thin film or membrane forms, the ferroelectric instability of these materials is highly susceptible to the interfacial electrostatic and mechanical boundary conditions, resulting in tunable polarization fields and Curie temperatures and domain formation. This review focuses on two types of ferroelectric oxide-based heterostructures: the epitaxial perovskite oxide heterostructures and the ferroelectric oxides interfaced with two-dimensional van der Waals materials.

Two Fe(III)Mn(III) bimetallic compounds, [Tp*Fe (CN)][(Mnsalen)]·MeOH·MeCN () and [Tp*Fe (CN)][Mnsalphen]·MeOH·HO (), were prepared by assembling the tricyanometalate building block (TEA)N [Tp*Fe(CN)] [Tp* = hydrotris(3,5-dimethylpyrazol-1-yl)borate] and the respective Mn Schiff base precursors [salen = ,'-ethylenebis(salicylideneiminate), salphen = ,-bis(salicylidene)-1,2-phenylenediamine]. Both compounds exhibit a one-dimensional (1D) zigzag chain structure linked by cyanide bridges, forming a (-Fe-C≡N-Mn-N≡C-) motif. Magnetic studies show a gradual increase of χ values in both complexes upon lowering temperature, indicating ferromagnetic coupling between the Fe and Mn metal centers with Curie-Weiss constants of +1.
