The influence of different pulping processes-soda, monoethanolamine, and Formacell-along with cold caustic extraction (CCE) and a bleaching sequence (DEpD) as post-treatments on the properties of lignocellulosic nanocrystals (LCNCs) was evaluated. LCNCs were produced through acid hydrolysis from the pulps. SEM and AFM analyses confirmed the successful production of LCNCs with dimensions under 100 nm. FT-IR analysis indicated the presence of lignin in the nanocrystals. X-ray diffraction demonstrated that acid hydrolysis and CCE significantly impacted the crystallinity of the LCNCs; however, the bleaching effect was minimal. Thermal analysis revealed that LCNCs derived from post-treated pulps exhibited greater thermal stability than those from untreated pulps. LCNCs were utilized to create films using the solution-casting method. The produced films from various pulps and post-treatments displayed excellent and diverse mechanical and aesthetic properties. The results indicated that the pulping processes, post-treatments, and chemical composition of the pulps influenced the characteristics of both LCNCs and LCNC films. The findings suggest that CCE can be a cost-effective and eco-friendly alternative to bleaching in the production of LCNCs. Furthermore, an increase in lignin content within the pulps was found to reduce the efficiency of acid hydrolysis and crystallinity while increasing the dimensions of the LCNCs.

A foamed sodium carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC) material was prepared under nitric acid conditions. Unlike traditional CMC materials, this foaming method is straightforward and does not require additional foaming agents. Owing to its high stability and load capacity, the foam can realize long-term quantitative storage and load a variety of metal ions; therefore, it has broad application prospects in the field of loaded materials for metal ions.

Protein constitutes the primary nutrient in soy, and its modifications are intricately linked to the properties of the soy milk powder. This study employed six main commercial enzymes (bromelain, neutrase, papain, trypsin, flavourzyme, and alcalase) to investigate the impact of enzymatic hydrolysis on the structural and functional properties of soy protein isolate (SPI), as well as its influence on the physicochemical properties of soy milk powder. The findings indicated that each of enzymes exhibits distinct specificity, with the degree of hydrolysis following the order: alcalase > flavourzyme > papain > bromelain > neutrase > trypsin.

Zein was made flexible through acid-driven deamidation. This increased flexibility was confirmed by the higher release of water-soluble peptides during trypsin hydrolysis. Self-assembled flexible zein nanoparticles (FZNPs) were prepared using the anti-solvent precipitation method.

The present paper deals with the synthesis, characterization, and properties of sol-gel-derived TiO/TeO/NbO nanopowders. The gels were prepared using a combination of organic [Ti (IV) n-butoxide, Nb (V) ethoxide (CHNbO)] and inorganic [telluric acid (HTeO)] precursors. The aging of gels was performed in air for several days in order to enable further hydrolysis.

In MCF-7 breast cancer cells, transmembrane prostatic acid phosphatase (TM-PAP) plays a critical role in tumor progression, particularly under hypoxic conditions. In this study, the impact of hypoxia on ectophosphatase activity in MCF-7 cells was examined, and the underlying biological mechanisms that influence the breast cancer microenvironment were explored. Compared with normoxic cells, hypoxic cells presented significant reductions in ectophosphatase activity, indicating that hypoxia altered dephosphorylation processes critical for tumor growth and metastasis.
