Purpose: To assess relative glaucoma severity between Haitians and non-Haitians upon presentation to a tertiary referral practice using a retrospective case-control design.
Patients And Methods: All Haitian descent patients were age- and zip code-matched with non-Haitian Hispanic American controls from a tertiary glaucoma service in a 1:1 ratio. Clinical and social vulnerability characteristics were analyzed for differences in functional and structural glaucoma deficits.

Background: Various indicators of neighborhood environmental perceptions are differently associated with physical activity (PA) domains, with notable variations by sex. However, few studies in Latin America have examined these associations across distinct PA domains. In this study, we analyzed the relationship between neighborhood environmental perceptions and PA in the domains of transportation and leisure among Chilean adults.

Temporoparietal brain areas comprise a candidate set of regions for interrogating the brain functional correlates of socioenvironmental factors in people at clinical high-risk for psychosis (CHR-P). Temporal lobe abnormalities have been shown to be common among people with schizophrenia spectrum conditions. Further, temporoparietal brain regions are implicated in tasks relevant to psychosocial outcomes, including coherent autobiographical memory recall and multimodal integration.

Recent studies indicate children who are deaf and hard of hearing who use cochlear implants or hearing aids know fewer spoken words than their peers with typical hearing, and often those vocabularies differ in composition. To date, however, the interaction of a child's auditory profile with the lexical characteristics of words he or she knows has been minimally explored. The purpose of the present study is to evaluate how audiological history, phonological memory, and overall vocabulary knowledge interact with growth in types of spoken words known by children who are deaf and hard of hearing compared to children with typical hearing.

Methods: The data were sourced from community surveys in three major cities in Guangdong Province, China, with a total of 659 respondents aged 55 and above. Structural equation modelling was used to verify the hypotheses proposed in this study.
