Owing to its biochemical flexibility, sulfur (S) is uniquely poised to fulfill versatile roles in plant-microbe interactions - impacting their metabolism with significant consequences for plant health and the global S cycle. We present evidence that the diversity of S-metabolic genes in plant-associated microbiomes (phytobiomes) is underappreciated, and plant niches are hotspots of bacterial S-metabolism with implications for S emissions. Building upon emerging findings, we posit that coordination of S-metabolism between plants and phytobiomes is a common mechanism for plant-microbe homeostasis and agriculturally beneficial microbial services.

Hypertension is the foremost modifiable risk factor for cardiovascular and renal diseases, and overall mortality on a global scale. Genetic variants have the potential to alter an individual's drug responses. In the present study, we employed a comprehensive computational analysis to evaluate the structural and functional implications of deleterious missense variants to examine the influence of RAAS genes such as AT1R, AT2R, and MasR on susceptibility to hypertension.

Objectives: Air pollutants are known neurotoxicants. In this updated systematic review, we evaluate new evidence since our 2019 systematic review on the effect of outdoor air pollution exposure on childhood and adolescent brain structure and function as measured by magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).
Methods: Using PubMed, Web of Science, and Scopus we conducted an updated literature search and systematic review of articles published through January 2025, using key terms for air pollution and functional and/or structural MRI.

Background: Shorter stature has been phenotypically linked to increased prevalence of schizophrenia (SCZ), but the nature of this association is unknown.
Methods: Using genome-wide genetic data, we studied the SCZ-height relationship on a genetic level. Applying novel genetic methods and tools, we analyzed gene-sets, tissue-types, cell-types, local genetic correlation, conditional genetic analyses, and fine-mapping of effector-genes to scrutinize the SCZ-height relationship.
