In this study, a novel strain exhibiting heterotrophic nitrification was screened; subsequently, the strain was identified as LCU1 using 16S rRNA gene sequencing. The aim of the study was to investigate the effects of external factors on the NH-N removal efficiency of strain LCU1 in order to elucidate the optimal conditions for NH-N removal by the strain and improve the removal efficiency. The findings indicated that the NH-N removal efficiency of the strain exceeded 80% under optimal conditions (sodium succinate carbon source, C/N ratio of 10, initial pH of 8.0, temperature of 30 °C, and speed of 180 rpm). The genome analysis of strain LCU1 showed that key genes involved in nitrogen metabolism, including GHI, B, AB, and AB, were successfully annotated; and were absent, but the nitrogen properties analysis determined that the strain had a heterotrophic nitrification ability. After 120 h, the NH-N removal efficiency of strain LCU1 was 34.5% at a high NH-N concentration of 2000 mg/L. More importantly, the NH-N removal efficiency of this strain was above 34.13% at higher Cu, Mn, and Zn ion concentrations. Furthermore, strain LCU1 had the highest NH-N removal efficiency of 34.51% for unsterilised (LCU1-OC) aquaculture wastewater. This suggests that with intensive colonisation treatment, the strain has promising application potential in real wastewater treatment.

Recently, two-dimensional metal-organic frameworks that are photoactive have shown great potential for efficiently converting solar energy into chemical energy. In this work, we successfully synthesized and designed two M-MOFs ([Cu()((CH)NH)] () and [Zn()(CH)NH)] (), H = 4,4'-(benzo[c][1,2,5]thiadiazole-4,7-diyl)dibenzoic acid). Structural analysis suggests that the five-coordinated M(II) ion is surrounded by four oxygen ions from two ligands and one nitrogen atom from one dimethylamine molecule.

Given the large amount of toxic Cr(VI) wastewater from various industries, it is urgent to take effective treatment measures. Elemental Ag is well known for its remarkable catalytic and antibacterial properties, thus the regeneration of valuable Ag metal from Ag wastewater is of great significance. In this study, a novel polyethylenimine (PEI) modified potassium tungsten oxide (N-KWO) adsorbent was prepared for Ag removal and reduction to Ag using glutaraldehyde as crosslinking agent. XPS and FT-IR spectra verified PEI successfully anchored on the surface O and W atoms of KWO through aldehyde bridges.

In this work, we demonstrate that rational decoration of pore walls of the metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) with azine and dihydro-tetrazine functions is a very practical strategy for high capacity removal of both neutral and basic nitrogen-containing compounds (NCCs) from model oil. Its performance is even much better than the MOFs with high surface area, open metal sites, and different functional groups such as amine, hydroxyl, carboxy, and sulfonate. For this aim, a number of isostructure functional MOFs (FMOFs) have been synthesized.
