Epileptic seizures and the interictal epileptiform discharges both have similar waveforms. And a method to effectively extract features that can be used to distinguish seizures is of crucial importance both in theory and clinical practice. We constructed state transfer networks by using visibility graphlet at multiple sampling intervals and analyzed network features. We found that the characteristics waveforms in ictal periods were more robust with various sampling intervals, and those feature network structures did not change easily in the range of the smaller sampling intervals. Inversely, the feature network structures of interictal epileptiform discharges were stable in range of relatively larger sampling intervals. Furthermore, the feature nodes in networks during ictal periods showed long-term correlation along the process, and played an important role in regulating system behavior. For stereo-electroencephalography at around 500 Hz, the greatest difference between ictal and the interictal epileptiform occurred at the sampling interval around 0.032 s. In conclusion, this study effectively reveals the correlation between the features of pathological changes in brain system and the multiple sampling intervals, which holds potential application value in clinical diagnosis for identifying, classifying, and predicting epilepsy.

To test the association between directly observed school masking behaviors and the presence of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) in school wastewater. We randomly sampled a subset of schools participating in a translational study on the effectiveness of passive wastewater surveillance in nonresidential K‒12 settings in San Diego County. Background: Hospital studies suggest that scrub typhus is a leading cause of severe undifferentiated fever in regions across Asia where the disease is endemic, but the population-based incidence of infection and illness has been little studied.
Methods: We conducted a population-based cohort study to assess epidemiologic and clinical characteristics of scrub typhus in 37 villages in Tamil Nadu, India, where the disease is highly endemic. Study participants were visited every 6 to 8 weeks over a period of 2 years; a venous blood sample was obtained from those who had had fever since the last visit.

Introduction: To report the incidence of lower leg fasciotomies in tibial shaft and plateau fractures and explore the incidence of potential missed acute compartment syndrome (ACS) with widespread, selective, or no invasive monitoring (IM).
Methods: This is a retrospective review of adult patients with diaphyseal tibial fractures (Orthopaedic Trauma Association 42A-C), and proximal tibial fractures (Orthopaedic Trauma Association 41A-C) treated surgically at a Level 1 trauma center from 2001 to 2020. Main outcomes of interest include lower extremity fasciotomy rates and incidence of potential missed ACS (abnormal neurovascular examination, sensory changes, chronic pain, claw toes, or amputation) in diaphyseal and proximal tibial fractures at three time intervals: widespread use of IM (w-IM) (2000 to 2010), selective IM (s-IM) (2011 to 2015), and clinical examination with a high index of suspicion alone without IM (CES), 2016 to 2020.

Introduction: Little is known about the effects of parental mental health burdens during pregnancy on infant health among military families, who are subject to various stressors unique to military life. The present study leveraged infant data from the DoD Birth and Infant Health Research (BIHR) program and self-reported parental survey data from the Millennium Cohort Study (MCS) to examine associations of parental mental health conditions with adverse infant health outcomes.
Materials And Methods: Subjects included singleton infants captured in BIHR program data, born between July 2001 and December 2012, to MCS women and men who completed a baseline or follow-up survey from 1 year before pregnancy start through infant birth date.
