In the clinical stage, suspected hemolytic plasma may cause hemolysis illness, manifesting as symptoms such as heart failure, severe anemia, etc. Applying a deep learning method to plasma images significantly improves recognition accuracy, so that this paper proposes a plasma quality detection model based on improved "You Only Look Once" 5th version (YOLOv5). Then the model presented in this paper and the evaluation system were introduced into the plasma datasets, and the average accuracy of the final classification reached 98.7%. The results of this paper's experiment were obtained through the combination of several key algorithm modules including omni-dimensional dynamic convolution, pooling with separable kernel attention, residual bi-fusion feature pyramid network, and re-parameterization convolution. The method of this paper obtains the feature information of spatial mapping efficiently, and enhances the average recognition accuracy of plasma quality detection. This paper presents a high-efficiency detection method for plasma images, aiming to provide a practical approach to prevent hemolysis illnesses caused by external factors.

Background: Critically ill children are at risk for subtherapeutic antibiotic concentrations. The frequency of target attainment and risk factors for subtherapeutic concentrations of cefepime in children have not been extensively studied.
Methods: We performed an observational study in critically ill children receiving a new prescription of standard dosing of cefepime for suspected sepsis (≥2 systemic inflammatory response syndrome criteria within 48 hours of cefepime start).

Purpose: This study aimed to examine the differential expression profiles of plasma metabolites in rat models of post-traumatic osteoarthritis (PTOA) and elucidate the roles of metabolites and their pathways in the progression of PTOA using bioinformatics analysis.
Method: Plasma samples were collected from 24 SD female rats to model PTOA, and metabolomic assays were conducted. The samples were divided into three groups: the surgically induced mild PTOA group (Group A: 3 weeks postoperative using the modified Hulth model; age 2 months), the surgically induced severe PTOA group (Group B: 5 weeks postoperative using the modified Hulth model; age 2 months), and the normal control group (Group C: healthy rats aged 2 months).

Current influenza vaccines are not effective in conferring protection against antigenic variants and pandemics. To improve cross-protection of influenza vaccination, we developed a 5xM2e messenger RNA (mRNA) vaccine encoding the tandem repeat conserved ectodomain (M2e) of ion channel protein M2 derived from human, swine, and avian influenza A viruses. The lipid nanoparticle (LNP)-encapsulated 5xM2e mRNA vaccine was immunogenic, eliciting high levels of M2e-specific IgG antibodies, IFN-γ+ T cells, T follicular helper cells, germinal center phenotypic B cells, and plasma cells.

Background/aims: During the COVID-19 pandemic, the Health Service Executive (HSE) and Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RCOG) recommended fasting and random plasma glucose (FPG/RPG) alongside glycated haemoglobin (HbA) to replace the oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT) for diagnosing Gestational Diabetes Mellitus (GDM).
Methods: The study compared testing patterns and diagnostic rates for GDM before and after implementing the RCOG guidelines (01/05/2020) in pregnancies beginning 01/11/2018 to 31/03/2021. Trends were inspected using Cochrane-Armitage tests.

As an environmental estrogen biomarker, the yolk precursor, vitellogenin (Vtg) is widely used in the assessment of estrogen pollution in aquatic environment. Currently, the detection of Vtg in plasma is mainly achieved by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) method based on Vtg antibodies. However, due to differences in the immunological epitopes of Vtg from various species, Vtg antibodies have low universality.
