Aflatoxin B (AFB) is the major toxic mycotoxin that contaminates grains at trace levels, necessitating the development of an efficient and simple extraction method to enrich it in samples. Here, magnetic molecularly imprinted FeO nanoparticles (MMIPs) were first synthesized by employing 5,7-dimethoxy coumarin as the template and methacrylic acid combined with styrene as the functional monomers. These MMIPs exhibited excellent selective recognition capabilities for AFB, based on which, a novel molecularly imprinted magnetic inverse opal photonic crystal microsphere (MIP@MIPCM) was fabricated via a droplet-based microfluidic self-assembly technique. The MIP@MIPCMs enabled specific recognition of AFB and were used as an extraction material, achieving a binding capacity of 842.7 ng/mg within 20 min. Coupled with high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), a sensitive and accurate analytical method was established for AFB detection with a detection limit of 0.35 μg/kg and recovery rates of 90-109 % in real samples.

A new difunctional recognition and nanocatalytic probe of copper metal-organic framework surface molecularly imprinted polyethyleneimine (CuMOF@MIP) was prepared by microwave procedure, using tert-butylhydroquinone (TBHQ) as the template molecule, CuMOF as the nanosubstrate and polyethyleneimine (PEI) as the functional monomer. The experimental results demonstrate that the CuMOF@MIP nanoprobes exhibit strong catalysis of acrylic acid reduction of silver nitrate to produce silver nanoparticles (AgNP) with surface plasmon resonance Rayleigh scattering (RRS) effect at 330 nm. The new nanocatalytic amplification indicator reaction was studied by RRS and coupled with the recognition function to develop a catalytic analysis strategy.

The 5-Hydroxytryptamine (5-HT) level determination is crucial for predicting, pathogenesis, diagnosis, and pharmacological treatment of schizophrenia. To realize the extraction of trace 5-HT in complex matrix samples, a magnetic molecularly imprinted solid-phase extraction (MMISPE) pretreatment method was developed. In combination with UPLC-MS/MS, the method was possible to achieve the quantification of 1 ng/mL 5-HT in tissue samples.

Selective isolation and extraction is significant in the accurate monitoring of triazoles residuals in complex samples. In this connection, electric field reinforced solid-phase microextraction (ER-SPME) based on molecularly imprinted microelectrode (MIM) was developed for the specific capture of triazoles in environmental water and fruit juice samples prior to HPLC quantification. Using triadimenol (TRN) and acrylic acid as template and functional monomer, respectively, in-situ polymerization technique under the assistance of electric field was employed to conveniently prepare MIM.

The presence of elevated concentrations of smoke-derived volatile phenols (and their glycoconjugates) in wine after grapevine exposure to wildfire smoke can give wine unpleasant smoky and ashy characters. To date, options for remediation of 'smoke taint' are limited, therefore, this study evaluated the potential for a commercially developed molecularly imprinted polymer (MIP) to remove smoke taint compounds from wine. A single-solute adsorption study was conducted in model wine and demonstrated adsorption of guaiacol, phenol and m-cresol by a diverse range of binding sites on the MIP surface.

Adsorption-assisted photocatalytic degradation of pollutants is an effective method to improve degradation efficiency. However, most adsorptive photocatalysts are not selective and cannot efficiently remove low-concentration targets in complex systems, which limit their practical application. Therefore, a novel molecularly imprinted photocatalyst (MI-BiOIO) with high selectivity and adsorption capacity was prepared using two-dimensional BiOIO nanosheet as the matrix.
