Exploring the topological characteristics of electronic bands is essential in condensed matter physics. Moiré materials featuring flat bands provide a versatile platform for engineering band topology and correlation effects. In moiré materials that break either time-reversal symmetry or inversion symmetry or both, electronic bands exhibit Berry curvature hotspots. Different stacking orders in these materials result in varied Berry curvature distributions within the flat bands, even when the band dispersion remains similar. However, experimental studies probing the impact of stacking order on the quantum geometric quantities are lacking. 1.4° twisted double bilayer graphene (TDBG) facilitates two distinct stacking orders (AB-AB, AB-BA) and forms an inversion broken moiré superlattice with electrically tunable flat bands. The valley Chern numbers of the flat bands depend on the stacking order, and the nonlinear Hall (NLH) effect distinguishes the differences in Berry curvature dipole (BCD), the first moment of Berry curvature. The BCD exhibits antisymmetric behavior, flipping its sign with the polarity of the perpendicular electric field in AB-AB TDBG, while it displays a symmetric behavior, maintaining the same sign regardless of the electric field's polarity in AB-BA TDBG. This approach electronically detects stacking-induced quantum geometry, while opening a pathway to quantum geometry engineering and detection.

Studies have shown that prolonged Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) fatigue can increase the risk of mental illness and lead to a higher probability of errors and accidents during operations. Virtual Reality (VR) technology can simultaneously stimulate multiple senses such as visual, auditory, and tactile, providing an immersive experience that enhances cognition and understanding. Therefore, this study collects multimodal data to develop evaluation methods for HCI fatigue and further explores the fatigue-relieving effects of VR technology by comparing it with flat video.

Searching for new materials hosting flat bands is pivotal for exploring strongly correlated effects and designing sensitive quantum devices, but remains challenging. We present a general method for realizing flat bands based on mathematical optimization and symmetry analysis. The method enables the discovery of ∼1000 types of two-dimensional lattices that can host flat bands, in sharp contrast with ∼10 flat-band lattices predicted previously besides the well-known ones.

Evanescently coupled waveguide arrays provide a tabletop platform to realize a variety of Hamiltonians, where physical waveguides correspond to the individual sites of a tight-binding lattice. Nontrivial spatial structure of the waveguide modes enriches this picture and uncovers further possibilities. Here, we demonstrate that the effective coupling between -like modes of adjacent photonic waveguides changes its sign depending on their relative orientation vanishing for proper alignment at a so-called .

A recent experiment has observed a series of quantum-spin-Hall effects in moiré MoTe. Among them, the vanishing Hall signal at the filling factor ν = 3 implies a possible realization of a time-reversal pair of even-denominator fractional Chern insulators. Inspired by this discovery, we numerically investigate whether a robust incompressible quantum-Hall liquid can be stabilized in the half-filled Chern band of twisted MoTe bilayers.
