Selenium (Se) deficiency is harmful for human health, and producing Se-enriched tea is an effective way to supplement Se. This study systematically analyzed the effects of Se-phosphorus (P) interaction on the absorption and transport of Se and the physiological and biochemical indicators of tea plants. The Se was applied in the form of sodium selenite at three concentrations (0, 50, 100 μmol L), and P was applied as sodium dihydrogen phosphate at three concentrations (0.5, 1.5, and 10.5 mmol L). At the same Se concentrations (50.00 μmol L, 500.00 μmol L), P application could increase the Se content in roots (p < 0.05), while the Se transport coefficient decreased with increasing P concentrations. Gene expression analysis suggested that CsPht1;2a and CsPht1;3a were pivotal in selenite uptake in tea plants. At elevated P concentrations (10.50 mmol L), the application of 50.00 μmol L Se significantly increased the levels of chlorophyll b and total chlorophyll in the leaves (p < 0.05), whereas a concentration of 500.00 μmol L Se led to a marked increase in carotenoid content (p < 0.05). Under conditions of moderate P concentration (1.50 mmol L), Se concentrations of 50.00 μmol L and 500.00 μmol L were found to exert a significant positive effect on GSH content, as well as the enzymatic activities of SOD, POD, and APX (p < 0.05). At consistent P concentrations (0.50 mmol L, 10.50 mmol L), the application of Se at 500.00 μmol L significantly elevated the content of tea polyphenols in the leaves (p < 0.05). These findings indicated that appropriate P concentrations could promote the absorption and transport of Se in tea plants, thus improving tea quality.

Background: The swift rise in the prevalence of Alzheimer's disease (AD) alongside its significant societal and economic impact has created a pressing demand for effective interventions and treatments. However, there are no available treatments that can modify the progression of the disease.

Methods: Eight AD brain tissues datasets and three blood datasets were obtained.

The sensitive, efficient, and simultaneous assay of creatinine and urea in different body fluid is crucial for the daily detection and treatment of chronic kidney disease. Here, we exploited a versatile composite surface enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) substrate of polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS)-flower-like ZIF-67@Ag nanoparticles (NPs) based on simple in-situ growth and ion sputtering strategies. The plasmonic Ag NPs assembled on the three-dimensional anisotropic ZIF-67 matrix, facilitating numerous resonant electromagnetic "hotspots".

Low vitamin D associated with high parathyroid hormone (PTH) is commonly reported in the context of HIV infection. We determined the association between total 25-hydroxyvitamin-D [25(OH)D] and PTH in adolescents living with HIV, in Zambia and Zimbabwe. Adolescents (11-19 years) perinatally-infected with HIV and established on antiretroviral therapy (ART) for ≥6 months were recruited into a cross-sectional study.

Objectives: Osteoporosis is characterized by decreased bone mass and damaged bone microstructure, often leading to fragility fractures. Low bone mineral density is a key risk factor for fractures. Serum cystatin C (CysC), an endogenous marker of glomerular filtration rate, is negatively correlated with bone mineral density and may be a potential risk factor for osteoporosis.

A series of novel demethylzeylasteral derivatives 1-3 was synthesized by performing modifications on the aldehyde groups at the C-4 positions. Subsequently, the anti - proliferative activities of derivatives 1-3 was evaluated using three human cancer cell line models (HCT116, SKOV3, and HepG2) and the CCK - 8 assay. Compared with demethylzeylasteral, derivative 2 exhibited a remarkable inhibitory effect on HCT116 (4.
