The ever-increasing demand for efficient data storage and processing has fueled the search for novel memory devices. By exploiting the spin-to-charge conversion phenomena, spintronics promises faster and low power solutions alternative to conventional electronics. In this work, a remarkable 34-fold increase in spin-to-charge current conversion is demonstrated when incorporating a 2D epitaxial graphene monolayer between iron and platinum layers by exploring spin-pumping on-chip devices. Furthermore, it is found that the spin conversion is also anisotropic. This enhancement and anisotropy is attributed to the asymmetric Rashba contributions driven by an unbalanced spin accumulation at the differently hybridized top and bottom graphene interfaces, as highlighted by ad-hoc first-principles theory. The improvement in spin-to-charge conversion as well as its anisotropy reveals the importance of interfaces in hybrid 2D-thin film systems, opening up new possibilities for engineering spin conversion in 2D materials, leading to potential advances in memory, logic applications, or unconventional computing.

Peripheral nerve injuries (PNIs) often lead to semi or complete loss of motor, sensory and autonomic functions. Although autografts are still the best option for PNI repair, their use is restricted due to the morbidity and availability of donor nerves. Because electrospun scaffolds may replicate the structure of native extracellular matrix (ECM), they provide a viable alternative.

We investigate the molecular dynamics of glycolide/lactide/caprolactone (Gly/Lac/Cap) copolymers using differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), H second-moment, H spin-lattice relaxation time (T) analysis, and C solid-state NMR over a temperature range of 100-413 K. Activation energies and correlation times of the biopolymer chains were determined. At low temperatures, relaxation is governed by the anisotropic threefold reorientation of methyl (-CH) groups in lactide.

The sensitive, efficient, and simultaneous assay of creatinine and urea in different body fluid is crucial for the daily detection and treatment of chronic kidney disease. Here, we exploited a versatile composite surface enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) substrate of polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS)-flower-like ZIF-67@Ag nanoparticles (NPs) based on simple in-situ growth and ion sputtering strategies. The plasmonic Ag NPs assembled on the three-dimensional anisotropic ZIF-67 matrix, facilitating numerous resonant electromagnetic "hotspots".

An innovative light scattering immunoassay was developed using an AuNPs etching strategy. Three types of anisotropic gold nanoparticles, including gold nanocubes, nanorods, and nanoflowers with distinct morphologies, were utilized to investigate how these morphological differences affect the sensitivity of light scattering signal transduction. Based on theoretical insights into light scattering and electromagnetic fields, gold nanocubes were identified as the optimal probes for enhancing light scattering signal transduction and were employed to construct an immunoassay for detecting staphylococcal enterotoxin A (SEA).

Chemiresistive materials, which alter their electrical resistance in response to interactions with surrounding chemicals, are valued for their robustness, rapid detection ability and high sensitivity. Recent research has revealed that the sensing performance of these materials can be enhanced by applying an external magnetic field. In this study, we report a novel finding in the chemiresistive behaviour of magnetite (FeO), where its response has been found to be modulated in an anisotropic manner when exposed to an external magnetic field, analogous to Earth's magnetic field.
