A Comprehensive Review of Fc Gamma Receptors and Their Role in Systemic Lupus Erythematosus.

Int J Mol Sci

February 2025

Physiology and Pharmacology Department, Chemistry and Pharmacy Faculty, Universidad de El Salvador, San Salvador 01101, El Salvador.

Receptors for the immunoglobulin G constant fraction (FcγRs) are widely expressed in cells of the immune system. Complement-independent phagocytosis prompted FcγR research to show that the engagement of IgG immune complexes with FcγRs triggers a variety of cell host immune responses, such as phagocytosis, antibody-dependent cell cytotoxicity, and NETosis, among others. However, variants of these receptors have been implicated in the development of and susceptibility to autoimmune diseases such as systemic lupus erythematosus.

Behavior of Transition Dairy Cows Managed Outdoors During the Autumn and Spring Calving Seasons.

Animals (Basel)

Instituto de Ciencias Clínicas Veterinarias, Facultad de Ciencias Veterinarias, Universidad Austral de Chile, Valdivia 5090000, Chile.

In pasture-based systems, prepartum dairy cows can be exposed directly to weather conditions during the transition period. We aimed to determine how temperate climatic conditions during spring and autumn calving seasons affect transition dairy cows' lying and ruminating behavior in outdoor conditions. Behavior and meteorological data were extracted from two external experiments carried out during the spring calving season and the autumn calving season.

Thiamine Pyrophosphate Effects on Newborn Piglets as a Measure of Vitality and Survival Indicators.

Animals (Basel)

February 2025

Ingeniería en Producción Animal, Universidad Politécnica de Francisco I. Madero (UPFIM), Tepatepec 42660, Mexico.

The objective of this study was to evaluate the prophylactic effect of thiamine pyrophosphate (TPP) on the vitality scores of piglets based on their behavior and survival. A total of 149 piglets born from 15 multiparous sows were evaluated. The sows were randomly divided into two groups, control and TPP, with treatments administered 24 and 12 h before the expected farrowing date.

Introduction: currently there are changes in lifestyle that have been modifying the nutritional culture, moving away from the Mediterranean diet (DMed) and acquiring a more sedentary lifestyle, a fact that has contributed to a significant increase in risk factors. (CVRF) such as obesity and type 2 diabetes mellitus (DM2), and consequently to a global increase in metabolic syndrome (MS) and cardiovascular diseases (CVD), which in the 21st century reinforces being the first cause of morbidity and mortality To reduce this pandemic, a multidisciplinary approach is required focused on the application of primary and secondary prevention strategies for modifiable CVRFs, focused on nutritional promotion and education through the promotion of a healthier lifestyle and diet from childhood, as the one that encompasses the MedD. This dietary pattern, together with physical exercise, has been shown to contribute to the primary and secondary prevention of DM2 and coexisting CVRF.

Evaluating search engines and large language models for answering health questions.

Centro Singular de Investigación en Tecnoloxías Intelixentes (CiTIUS), Universidade de Santiago de Compostela, Santiago de Compostela, Galicia, Spain.

Search engines (SEs) have traditionally been primary tools for information seeking, but the new large language models (LLMs) are emerging as powerful alternatives, particularly for question-answering tasks. This study compares the performance of four popular SEs, seven LLMs, and retrieval-augmented (RAG) variants in answering 150 health-related questions from the TREC Health Misinformation (HM) Track. Results reveal SEs correctly answer 50-70% of questions, often hindered by many retrieval results not responding to the health question.
