Introduction This study evaluates the mechanical performance of a new all-ceramic material, zirconia-reinforced lithium silicate (ZLS), as a restorative material for the rehabilitation of endodontically treated teeth with severe coronal destruction. Material and methods Sixty extracted mandibular first premolars of similar size and shape were collected, and root canal treatment and tooth preparation were performed. They were divided into six groups as follows: Group 1 A - ZLS post and core, Group 1 B - ZLS one-piece dowel crown, Group 1 C - ZLS endocrown, Group 2 A - Cast post & core with metal crown, Group 2 B - Cast one-piece dowel crown, Group 2 C - Metal endocrown. After etching and bonding, all restorations were cemented with dual-cure resin cement. All specimens were loaded until failure in a Universal Testing Machine. Fracture analysis and failure modes analysis were conducted through visual examination. For statistical analysis, a one-way ANOVA test was used to analyze fracture resistance values. Results Within Group 1, the mean fracture resistance was highest for the ZLS post and core (610 N), followed by the ZLS endocrown (450 N) and the ZLS one-piece dowel crown (356 N), respectively, and this difference was statistically significant (P < 0.05). An inter-group comparison using an unpaired t-test showed a significant difference between the ZLS post and core (1A) and the Cast post and core (2A) (P < 0.05). Conclusion ZLS restorations have great potential to be used as an alternative to cast metal restorations for the restoration of severely damaged endodontically treated teeth.

Background: Clostridium innocuum is a vancomycin-resistant pathobiome associated with poor clinical outcomes in inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). In ulcerative colitis (UC), it correlates with reduced remission rates, while in Crohn's disease (CD), it is linked to creeping fat formation and intestinal strictures. Notably, some patients experience refractory or recurrent C.

Background: Ventilator-associated pneumonia (VAP) is a frequent and severe complication among newborns in neonatal intensive care units (NICUs). It is associated with elevated morbidity and mortality rates, more extended hospital stays and increased health care costs. Implementing preventive care bundles and structured sets of evidence-based practices reduces VAP incidence.

This updated Heart Valve Collaboratory framework addresses the growing concern for transcatheter valve failure (TVF) following transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR). With the increasing volume of redo-TAV and surgical TAV explantation, there is a critical need for standardized pathways and protocols for evaluating TVF using echocardiography and cardiac computed tomography (CT) angiography. This document clarifies prior definitions of bioprosthetic valve deterioration and bioprosthetic valve failure in a practical, imaging directed context for TAVR.

The hawksbill turtle, Eretmochelys imbricata, has been at risk of extinction for more than 40 years and remains critically endangered. While nesting beach protection is important for hatchling production, identifying inter-nesting, migratory, and foraging habitats is crucial for mitigating threats to population recovery. We report the use of satellite telemetry to monitor movements of 15 hawksbill turtles in the Western Caribbean.

There is a growing recognition of the importance of familial involvement in patient care. In Asian societies, communications with patients' families for routine medical updates and shared decision-making are considered part-and-parcel of clinical practice. Yet, training in familial communications has remained, by and far, a neglected aspect of conventional communications skills training in the medical curriculum, despite distinctive nuances in the communications approach.
