Fluid-structure interaction (FSI) can be key in the generation of accurate digital replica of cardiovascular systems. To personalize these models, however, several patient-specific parameters need to be measured, which can be challenging to accomplish in a non-invasive manner. Alternatively, the cardiac kinematics of the patient can be extracted from imaging data and then directly imposed as a dynamic boundary condition in the computational model, also incorporating temporal and spatial measurement errors.

Background: Myocardial strain is a valuable biomarker for diagnosing and predicting cardiac conditions, offering additional prognostic information to traditional metrics like ejection fraction. While cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR) methods, particularly cine displacement encoding with stimulated echoes (DENSE), are the gold standard for strain estimation, evaluation of regional strain estimation requires precise ground truth. This study introduces DENSE-Sim, an open-source simulation pipeline for generating realistic cine DENSE images with high-resolution known ground truth strain, enabling evaluation of accuracy and precision in strain analysis pipelines.

Background: Intravascular lithotripsy (IVL), that generates shockwaves through spark gap discharge between emitters, has been increasingly used to treat severely calcified coronary artery lesions. However, there is a question as to whether IVL has no electrical effects on endocardial tissues or cardiac implantable devices (CIEDs).
Aims: The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of IVL-induced intracardiac potentials on cardiac electrophysiology and CIEDs.

Background: Neither the actual in vivo tissue temperatures reached with a novel contact force sensing catheter with a mesh-shaped irrigation tip (TactiFlex SE, Abbott) nor the safety profile has been elucidated.
Methods: In a porcine model (n = 8), thermocouples were implanted epicardially in the superior vena cava, right pulmonary vein, and esophagus close to the inferior vena cava following a right thoracotomy. After chest closure, endocardial ablation was conducted near the thermocouples under fluoroscopic guidance.
