Protothecosis is a rare and unusual disease that affects both humans and animals, including dogs. The causative agents are unicellular, achlorophyllous, "yeast-like" microalgae of the genus Prototheca (Trebouxiophyceae, Chlorophyta). Although usually saprophytic, Prototheca may, under conditions of immunologic compromise, become pathogenic and even lethal to the host.

Background: Experience-Based Co-Design (EBCD) is a popular collaborative process where service users and healthcare providers share their experiences of using and delivering services to identify ways to adapt services to enhance those experiences.
Objective: This study aimed to identify enablers and barriers to the successful implementation of EBCD as part of Ireland's recently adopted Enhanced Community Care (ECC) programme.
Design: Service users and staff at two sites (N = 17) participated in an accelerated EBCD process designed to enhance service provision for older people and those living with chronic conditions.
Background: To strengthen holistic health care delivery, influential interprofessional (IP) leadership skills are crucial for nurse practitioners (NPs) working within typical disease-focused practice settings. To build competencies, an IP leadership learning protocol (ILLP) was developed using an evidence-informed conflict resolution self-study and patient-care video conference (PCVC) for family NP students, which was later adapted for psychiatric mental health (PMH) NP students and measured effectiveness.
Method: Flipped-classroom initial self-study of IP leadership strategies and relevant clinical considerations culminated in applying this learning within the PCVC by role-playing deliberately contrived adversarial IP roles with a faculty facilitator intermittently designating students to act as the IP leader.

The plenary session on clinically relevant outcomes in systemic vasculitis emphasized the significance of monitoring creatinine, haematuria and proteinuria for predicting renal outcomes, recovery of kidney function in severe ANCA glomerulonephritis and outcomes post-kidney transplantation in anti-glomerular basement membrane disease. These findings have the potential to enhance clinical practice by refining prognostication and treatment strategies. Future research gaps include exploring the predictive role of proteinuria and understanding the impact of different clinical phenotypes on disease outcomes in Takayasu arteritis.
