We report two cases of penile injuries among two patients as they presented to the emergency department simultaneously. The medical history revealed that they decided to run a contest to determine whose tumescence would be more long-lasting. For this purpose, the first patient used a metal ring and the second the neck of a plastic bottle.

Wildfires produce air pollutants that have been associated with complications during pregnancy. This study examined the association between wildfire exposure before and during pregnancy and the odds of congenital heart defect (CHD) in the offspring. This retrospective cohort study used the California Linked Birth File and the Forestry and Fire Protection data between 2007 and 2010.

Background: Household air pollution is a major contributor to cardiovascular disease burden in women in Sub-Saharan Africa. However, little is known about exposures during pregnancy or the effect of clean cooking interventions on postpartum blood pressure trajectories.
Methods: The Ghana Randomized Air Pollution and Health Study (GRAPHS) randomized 1414 non-smoking women in the first and second trimesters to liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) or improved biomass stoves - vs control (traditional three-stone open fire).
