is a widespread foodborne pathogen that can cause food poisoning when present in food at certain levels. Ingesting contaminated food may lead to symptoms such as abdominal pain, diarrhea, and, in severe cases, life-threatening conditions. In this study, a simple and super-fast method for detecting was developed, which combines cellulose filter paper-based DNA extraction, multienzyme isothermal rapid amplification (MIRA), and lateral flow dipstick (LFD) technology. Initially, PCR was adopted to evaluate the DNA extraction efficiency of the filter paper, followed by the optimization of the lysis formula and extraction conditions. With the above optimization, DNA that can be used for subsequent nucleic acid amplification can be obtained within 3 min. Then, the isothermal amplification of MIRA-LFD was established and optimized to evaluate the detection specificity and sensitivity. Finally, the developed method was applied to detect in cooked rice samples. The results indicated that the entire amplification procedure of MIRA-LFD only takes 15 min at 39 °C. The whole super-fast detection system could be completed in less than 20 min, from DNA extraction to result interpretation, which achieved a detection limit of 12 fg/μL of DNA concentration, corresponding to approximately 115 CFU/mL in actual samples.

Introduction: The fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) is a very important technique, as it can diagnose many genetic disorders and cancers. Molecular cytogenetic analysis (FISH) can diagnose numerical chromosome aberrations, sex chromosomes anomalies, and many genetic disorders.
Aim: With the limited number of commercially available probes that do not cover all research needs and the high prices of the commercial probes, our goal is to apply recent technologies to produce FISH probes that can accurately and sensitively diagnose genetic diseases and cancer in Egypt and establishing the inhouse production of different FISH probes.

Due to bleomycin's cytotoxic characteristics, which include cardiotoxicity, this investigation looked at the effectiveness of costus ethanolic extract in reducing cardiotoxicity in male rats receiving bleomycin therapy. Forty adult male rats (160-200 g) were evenly allocated into four groups: group (1) included normal rats serving as the control; group (2) included normal rats administered 200 mg/kg of costus ethanolic extract (CEE) orally for 6 weeks; group (3) consisted of rats receiving bleomycin (15 mg/kg twice weekly, ip) for 6 weeks; and group (4) involved rats treated orally with CEE (200 mg/kg/day) for 6 weeks following bleomycin intoxication. The results indicated that the CEE significantly reversed the cardiological deteriorations brought on by bleomycin; this was demonstrated by a considerable increase in cardiac SOD, GPx, GSH, and CAT, along with a substantial decrease in cardiac MDA, NO, and DNA fragmentation.

Background: Prior studies have failed to demonstrate clinical or statistical difference in fecal incontinence (FI) symptom improvement with neuromodulation by percutaneous tibial nerve stimulation (PTNS) vs sham. The results of these studies may be indicative of a placebo or sham effect and led us to investigate possible genetic biomarkers of placebo response among women with FI.
Objective: To evaluate the relationship between response to PTNS or sham and genetic polymorphisms associated with placebo response in women with FI.

There are indications that the transient blockade of the dopamine receptor D2 (DRD2) by atypical antipsychotics such as risperidone is related to their metabolic side effects. We, therefore, examined the relationship between TaqIA polymorphism of the DRD2 gene and acute risperidone-induced metabolic changes. We recruited 153 newly diagnosed patients with psychotic disorders (71 males and 82 females) from the Federal Neuropsychiatric Hospital, Yaba, Lagos, Nigeria.
