Sleep is a multidimensional modifiable lifestyle factor related to cancer risk. Prior research has primarily focused on sleep duration, despite the increasing importance of sleep timing and sleep regularity in the health research field. The objective of this systematic review was to synthesize the existing literature on the relationship of chronotype, sleep timing, and sleep regularity with cancer risk.

This study examined the regulatory effects of autonomic nervous system on aerobic endurance exercise performance in cold exposure, focusing on heart rate recovery (HRR) and heart rate variability (HRV) across genders. Thirty participants (17 males and 13 females) from a university track endurance program, classified as exercise grade II or above, underwent monitoring of HRV in time domain, frequency domain, nonlinear correlation indices and 1 min HRR. Measurements were taken before, during, and after aerobic endurance exercise in cold and normal environments, respectively.

PF-06480605, a fully human IgG1 monoclonal antibody targeting tumor necrosis factor α-like ligand 1A (TL1A), has demonstrated acceptable safety and the potential as an effective treatment for inflammatory bowel disease in phase 1/2a studies. To facilitate future clinical development in Japan and China, a Japan local phase 1 study was designed in consultation with the Japan regulatory authority. In addition to fulfilling Japan regulatory requirements, this study will bring operational efficiency and speed to global and China development by evaluating PF-06480605 in Japanese healthy adults prior to a China local phase 1 study as required by the China regulatory authority.

Kallikrein-8 mediates furin-independent Activin-A precursor processing to stimulate tumor growth in melanoma.

Nat Commun

École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) SV ISREC, Station 19, 1015, Lausanne, Switzerland.

Receptor binding of TGF-β and related ligands such as Activin-A requires cleavage of a furin site in their dimeric precursor proteins. Melanoma cells cleave one Activin-A subunit independently of furin and related proprotein convertases, raising questions of how this half-processed intermediate is generated and whether it influences tumor growth. Here, an siRNA library screen for proteases mediating this furin-independent "hemicleavage" identifies kallikrein (Klk)-8.

The Life's Essential 8 (LE8) is a novel indicator of cardiovascular health proposed by the American Heart Association. While numerous studies have demonstrated its guiding value in chronic diseases, research on its role in lung function remains limited. This study utilized data from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Surveys (NHANES 2007-2012), which included comprehensive measurements of lung function, diet, physical activity, nicotine exposure, sleep patterns, body mass index (BMI), blood glucose, blood pressure, blood lipids, and relevant covariates.
