Structure-reactivity relationships for an array of norbornene derivatives in light-initiated thiol-ene reactions were unveiled using real-time Fourier-transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy. Guided by these results, poly(-hydroxyethyl acrylamide) was functionalized with -norborneneimide and used in digital light processing (DLP) 3D printing of biomimetic hydrogels.

Optically responsive materials are applied in sensing, actuators, and optical devices. One such class of material is dye-doped liquid crystal polymers that self-assemble into cholesteric mesophases that reflect visible light. We report here the synthesis and characterization of a family of linear and mildly crosslinked terpolymers prepared by the ROMP of norbornene-based monomers.

The demand for insulating materials with superior dielectric properties has increased. Among these materials, polymers containing cyclic structure including cyclic olefin copolymer (COC) and cyclic olefin polymer (COP) stand out because of their excellent dielectric properties originating from the pure hydrocarbon structure. Introducing fluorine into polymers is one efficient strategy for optimizing the dielectric and the related important properties.

The signal transducer and activator of transcription-3 (STAT-3) is a perilous transcription factor that regulates various proliferation and anti-apoptosis factors in prostate cancer cells. Therefore, inhibiting STAT-3 signaling is considered a potential therapeutic approach for treating prostate cancer. This study investigates the effects of borneol (BNL) on the proliferation and apoptosis of human prostate cancer cells by blocking Janus kinase (JAK) and STAT-3 expression.

The present study investigated the involvement of hippocampal nicotinic acetylcholine receptors (nAChRs) in the anti-allodynic effect of ketamine/morphine on neuropathic pain in adult male Wistar rats. Morphine or ketamine administration decreased the percentage of maximum possible effect (MPE%), indicating an analgesic effect. The most significant decrease occurred with a 5 mg/kg dose of morphine (average MPE% = 98), while a 0.
