A randomized controlled trial comparing controlled active motion and early passive mobilization protocols for rehabilitation of repaired flexor tendons in zone II.

J Hand Ther

March 2025

Department of Basic Sciences for Physical Therapy, Faculty of Physical Therapy, Cairo University, Cairo, Egypt; Department of Health Rehabilitation Sciences, Faculty of Applied Medical Sciences, University of Tabuk, Tabuk, Saudi Arabia.

Background: Flexor tendon injuries in zone II of the hand pose serious clinical complications due to the high risk of adhesion formation and suboptimal clinical outcomes, although controlled active motion (CAM) and early passive mobilization (EPM) are standard protocols used during rehabilitation.

Objective: This randomized trial compared functional outcomes between CAM and EPM systems after zone II flexor tendon repair.

Methods: Forty patients with entire zone II flexor digitorum profundus and superficialis tears were randomly assigned to either the CAM or EPM protocol for 12 weeks' rehabilitation.

Explainable Artificial Intelligence to Quantify Adenoid Hypertrophy-related Upper Airway Obstruction using 3D Shape Analysis.

J Dent

March 2025

Department of Orthodontics and Pediatric Dentistry, School of Dentistry, University of Michigan, 1011 North University Avenue, Ann Arbor, Michigan, 48104, USA. Electronic address:

Objectives: To develop and validate an explainable Artificial Intelligence (AI) model for classifying and quantifying upper airway obstruction related to adenoid hypertrophy using three-dimensional (3D) shape analysis of cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) scans.

Methods: 400 CBCT scans of patients aged 5-18 years were analyzed. Nasopharyngeal airway obstruction (NAO) ratio was calculated to label scans into four grades of obstruction severity, used as the ground truth.

Background: Talquetamab is the first GPRC5D × CD3 bispecific antibody approved for relapsed or refractory multiple myeloma. In phase 1 of the MonumenTAL-1 study, initial results of subcutaneous talquetamab 0·4 mg/kg once a week and 0·8 mg/kg every 2 weeks showed preliminary clinical activity. We describe safety and activity results in patients treated with talquetamab, including patients who had received previous T-cell redirection therapy (TCR).

Cytokine release syndrome (CRS) and immune effector cell (IEC)-associated neurotoxicity syndrome (ICANS) are common complications following IEC therapy for hematologic malignancies. This two-part, phase 2 study (INCB 39110-211) investigated safety and efficacy of itacitinib, a potent, highly selective Janus kinase 1 inhibitor with broad anti-inflammatory activity, for prevention of CRS and ICANS in patients receiving commercial CD19-directed IEC therapy. Patients in part 1 received once-daily itacitinib 200 mg 3 days before IEC therapy (axicabtagene ciloleucel [axi-cel], brexucabtagene autoleucel, or tisagenlecleucel) through Day 26, with guidelines for use of other CRS/ICANS interventions.
