In this study, we demonstrate the potential of the bornite crystal structure (CuFeS) of copper iron sulfide as a second near infrared (NIR-II) photoacoustic (PA) contrast agent. Bornite exhibits comparable dose-dependent biocompatibility to copper sulfide nanoparticles in a cell viability study with HepG2 cells, while exhibiting a 10-fold increase in PA amplitude. In comparison to other benchmark contrast agents at similar mass concentrations, bornite demonstrated a 10× increase in PA amplitude compared to indocyanine green (ICG) and a 5× increase compared to gold nanorods (AuNRs).

Circulating tumor cells (CTCs) serve as crucial indicators for tumor occurrence, progression, and prognosis monitoring. However, achieving high sensitivity and high purity capture of CTCs remains challenging. Additionally, in situ capture and synchronous clearance hold promise as methods to impede tumor metastasis, but further exploration is needed.

Multifunctional nanoplatforms developed from natural polymers and graphene oxide (GO) with enhanced biological/physicochemical features have recently attracted attention in the biomedical field. Herein, a new multifunctional near-infrared (NIR) light-, pH- and magnetic field-sensitive hybrid nanoplatform (mGO@AL-g-PHPM@ICG/EP) is developed by combining iron oxide decorated graphene oxide nanosheets (mGO) and poly(2-hydroxypropylmethacrylamide) grafted alginate (AL-g-PHPM) copolymer loaded with indocyanine green (ICG) and etoposide (EP) for chemo/phototherapy. The functional groups, specific crystal structure, size, morphology, and thermal stability of the nanoplatform were fully characterized by XRD, UV, FTIR, AFM/TEM/FE-SEM, VSM, DSC/TG, and BET analyses.

Objective: To study the influence of glazing on strength repair of lithium disilicate glass-ceramics after defect incorporation in different production processing phases.
Materials And Methods: Bar-shaped specimens (1 × 1 × 12 mm, n = 280; 20/group) made from different lithium disilicate ceramics (IPS e.max CAD, Ivoclar, "LD" or advanced lithium disilicate CEREC Tessera, Dentsply Sirona, "ALD") were exposed to 7 different protocols: crystallized without (c) and with glaze layer (cg), with a defect incorporated before crystallization without (ic) and with glaze layer (icg), with a defect after crystallization without (ci) or with glaze layer (cig), and defect incorporated after the glaze layer (cgi).
