Although the study of multifractal properties is now an established approach for the statistical analysis of urban data, the joint multifractal analysis of several spatial signals remains largely unexplored. The latter is crucial for understanding complex multiscale relationships in cities, such as socio-spatial segregation processes, where the evolution of behavior across geographical scales traditionally plays a central role. In this context, the proposed approach, which uses wavelet leaders for multifractal analysis of irregular point processes, estimates self-similarity and intermittency exponents as well as self-similar and multifractal cross-correlation by combining classical multifractal and geographic analysis methods. Results show that a local bivariate multifractal analysis can not only be related to classical two-group segregation indices but also extends them to provide a robust analytical framework that (1) is less susceptible to the modifiable areal unit problem and normalization methods and that (2) can reveal more pronounced evolution across spatial scales. In addition, multifractal analysis (3) can also delineate more "perturbed" areas in which the dominance of one group is occasionally interrupted by local concentrations of the other group, referred to here as intermittent segregation.

While using fully autonomous vehicles is expected to radically change the way we live our daily lives, it is not yet available in most parts of the world, so we only have sporadic results on passenger reactions. Furthermore, we have very limited insights into how passengers react to an unexpected event during the ride. Previous physiological research has shown that passengers have lower levels of anxiety in the event of a human-driven condition compared to a self-driving condition.

The human genome consists of about 2 m of DNA packed inside the cell nucleus barely 10 μm in diameter. DNA is complexed with histones, forming chromatin fiber, which folds inside the nucleus into loops, TADs, A/B compartments and chromosome territories. This organization is knot-free and self-similar across length scales, leading to a hypothesis that the genome presents a fractal globule, which was corroborated by chromosome conformation capture experiments.

Recent research shows that punctuation patterns in texts exhibit universal features across languages. Analysis of Western classical literature reveals that the distribution of spaces between punctuation marks aligns with a discrete Weibull distribution, typically used in survival analysis. By extending this analysis to Chinese literature represented here by three notable contemporary works, it is shown that Zipf's law applies to Chinese texts similarly to Western texts, where punctuation patterns also improve adherence to the law.
