Animal models are indispensable for unraveling the mechanisms underlying post-acute sequelae of COVID-19 (PASC). This review evaluates recent research on PASC-related perturbations in animal models, drawing comparisons with clinical findings. Despite the limited number of studies on post-COVID conditions, particularly those extending beyond three months, these studies provide valuable insights.

The multi-kingdom microbiome catalog of the chicken gastrointestinal tract.

Biosaf Health

April 2024

CAS Key Laboratory of Pathogen Microbiology and Immunology, Institute of Microbiology, Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), Beijing 100101, China.

Chicken is an important food animal worldwide and plays an important role in human life by providing meat and eggs. Despite recent significant advances in gut microbiome studies, a comprehensive study of chicken gut bacterial, archaeal, and viral genomes remains unavailable. In this study, we constructed a chicken multi-kingdom microbiome catalog (CMKMC), including 18,201 bacterial, 225 archaeal, and 33,411 viral genomes, and annotated over 6,076,006 protein-coding genes by integrating 135 chicken gut metagenomes and publicly available metagenome-assembled genomes (MAGs) from ten countries.

Investigation of the Noise Emitted from Elevated Urban Rail Transit Paved with Various Resilient Tracks.

Materials (Basel)

February 2025

China Railway Siyuan Survey and Design Group Co., Ltd., Wuhan 430063, China.

Based on the dynamic receptance method, a vehicle-track-bridge interaction model was developed to calculate the wheel-rail interaction forces and the forces transmitted to the bridge in an elevated urban rail transit system. A prediction model integrating the finite element method-boundary element method (FEM-BEM) and the statistical energy analysis (SEA) method was established to obtain the noise from the main girder, track slab, and wheel-rail system for elevated urban rail transit. The calculated results agree well with the measured data.

This study presents PolypeptideDesigner (PPD), a novel conditional diffusion-based model for de novo polypeptide sequence design and generation based on per-residue secondary structure conditions. By integrating a lightweight LSTM-attention neural network as the denoiser within a diffusion framework, PPD offers an innovative and efficient approach to polypeptide generation. Evaluations demonstrate that the PPD model can generate diverse and novel polypeptide sequences across various testing conditions, achieving high pLDDT scores when folded by ESMFold.
