The release of synaptic vesicles (SVs) at the synaptic junction is a complex process involving various specialized proteins that work in unison. Among these, Bassoon has emerged as a significant protein, particularly noted for its association with various neurological and aging-related diseases. Due to its structural and functional roles, Bassoon has become a focus of recent research, especially in understanding its implications in neurodegenerative and psychiatric disorders.

The global incidence of biliary tract cancer (BTC) is on the rise, presenting a substantial healthcare challenge. The integration of immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) with molecularly targeted therapies is emerging as a strategy to enhance immune responses. However, the efficacy and underlying mechanisms of these treatments in BTC are still largely unexplored.

This review provides an in-depth exploration of the evolving role of immunotherapy in gastrointestinal (GI) cancers, with a particular focus on immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) and their associated predictive biomarkers. We present a detailed analysis of established biomarkers, such as PD-L1, microsatellite instability (MSI), tumor mutational burden (TMB), and the tumor microenvironment (TME), as well as emerging biomarkers, including gut microbiota and Epstein-Barr virus (EBV). The predictive value of these biomarkers in guiding clinical decision-making and optimizing immunotherapy outcomes is thoroughly discussed.

Background: Microdroplets have emerged as effective confined-volume reactors due to their remarkable ability to accelerate chemical reactions compared to bulk systems. Recent research highlights the crucial role of air-liquid interfaces in this acceleration. A microdroplet can be viewed as having two kinetically distinct regions: the interface and the interior.

Departement of Clinical and Chemical Pathology, Kasr Alainy Medical School, Cairo University, Egypt.

Background: The emergence of worldwide pandemic caused by coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) has caused a radical change in everyday life. Patients diseased with FMF show manifestations and labs highly similar to COVID infected patients. In the current study, we evaluate the presence of variants in exon 10 of MEFV gene and the relation with severity of symptoms in patients with COVID-19 pneumonia.
