The planar Hall effect in 3D systems is an effective probe for their Berry curvature, topology, and electronic properties. However, the Berry curvature-induced conventional planar Hall effect is forbidden in 2D systems as the out-of-plane Berry curvature cannot couple to the band velocity of the electrons moving in the 2D plane. Here, we demonstrate a unique 2D planar Hall effect (2DPHE) originating from the hidden planar components of the Berry curvature and orbital magnetic moment in quasi-2D materials. We identify all planar band geometric contributions to 2DPHE and classify their crystalline symmetry restrictions. Using gated bilayer graphene as an example, we show that in addition to capturing the hidden band geometric effects, 2DPHE is also sensitive to the Lifshitz transitions. Our Letter motivates further exploration of hidden planar band geometry-induced 2DPHE and related transport phenomena for innovative applications.

Metamaterials with engineered structures have been extensively investigated for their capability to manipulate optical, acoustic, or thermal waves. In particular, magnetic metamaterials with precise geometry, shape, size and arrangement of their elemental blocks may be used to concentrate, focus, or guide magnetic fields. In this work, we show the potential of using soft-magnetic permalloy (Py) metasurfaces to tailor the physical properties of other magnetic structures at the local scale.

Planar Hall magnetoresistance (PHMR) sensors are widely utilized due to their high sensitivity, simple structure, and cost-effectiveness. However, their performance is influenced by both the driving mode and the thickness of the ferromagnetic layer, yet the combined effects of these factors remain insufficiently explored. This study systematically investigates the impact of NiFe thickness (5-35 nm) on PHMR sensor performance under constant current (CC) and constant voltage (CV) modes, with a focus on optimizing the peak-to-peak voltage (V).

Chiral magnets have recently gained recognition as ideal hosts for topological spin textures, showing significant promise for applications in next-generation spintronic devices. However, chiral magnets are still scarce, and their transport properties have been rarely explored. Here, a chiral magnet, CrNbS, has been synthesized, and its magnetic and transport properties have been systematically investigated.

Thermal transport coefficients, notably the interfacial thermal conductance, were determined in planar and spherical gold interfaces functionalized with CTAB (cetyltrimethylammonium bromide) or MTAB (16-mercapto-hexadecyl-trimethylammonium bromide) using reverse nonequilibrium molecular dynamics (RNEMD) methods. The systems of interest included (111), (110), and (100) planar facets as well as nanospheres ( = 10 Å). The effect of metal polarizability was investigated through the implementation of the density-readjusted embedded atom model (DR-EAM), a polarizable metal potential.
