Artificial intelligence (AI), especially through the development of deep learning techniques like convolutional neural networks (CNNs), has revolutionized numerous fields. CNNs, introduced by Yann LeCun in the 1990s (Hubbard, W.; Jackel, L. D. Backpropagation Applied to Handwritten Zip Code Recognition. , (4), 541- 551. https://doi.org/10.1162/neco.1989.1.4.541), have found applications in healthcare for medical diagnostics, autonomous vehicles in transportation, stock market prediction in finance, and image recognition in computer vision to name just a few. Similarly, in analytical chemistry, deep learning has enhanced data analysis from techniques like MS spectrometry, NMR, fluorescence spectroscopy, and chromatography. Another AI branch, Natural Language Processing (NLP), has surged recently with the advent of Large Language Models (LLMs), such as OpenAI's ChatGPT. This paper demonstrates the application of an LLM via a smartphone to conduct multivariate data analyses, in an interactive conversational manner, of a hyper-spectral imaging data set from laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy (LIBS). We demonstrate the potential of LLMs to process and analyze data sets, which automatically generate and execute code in response to user queries, and anticipate their growing role in the future of analytical chemistry.

Since its discovery in 1997, the single molecule surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SM-SERS) has attracted wide interest owing to its enormous potential in many fields. However, the commercialized applications of SM-SERS are still limited by the lack of a clear understanding of the relevant mechanism in the famous SM-SERS experiments. In this study, a salt-gradient model is proposed to deeply investigate the physical nature and update insights into the morphological, structural, and component evolution processes of Ag NPs from dispersed nanostructures to aggregation states in the salt-induced aggregation SERS strategy.

Objective: This work deals with the development of an analytical method for the analysis of body milk, cream, and oil. The objective is to develop a reliable, sensitive, and reproducible method suitable to assess the content of dexpanthenol in personal care products and to confirm the declared enantiomeric form.
Methods: Optimization of conditions for the extraction of panthenol from personal care products was carried out for the detection and quantification of panthenol and its enantiomers by achiral and chiral high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) with spectrophotometric detection.

Using small molecules to integrate multifunctional surfaces within a nanopore is an effective way to endow smart responsibilities of nanofluidic diodes. However, the complex synthesis of the small molecules hinders their further application in achieving multifunctional surfaces. Here, a simple and versatile design concept is reported for fabricating bioinspired integrated nanofluidic diodes with adjustable surface chemistry by confining a spirocyclic fluorescein derivative, 6-aminofluorescein (6-AF), within an asymmetric track-etched nanopore.

Previous studies suggested that fecal short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs) and branched short-chain fatty acids (BCFAs) are associated with glucose regulation. However, the potential relationship between circulating SCFAs and BCFAs with incident diabetes risk in both men and women remains unidentified in prospective cohort studies. In this study, we examined a panel of nine serum SCFAs and BCFAs in 3414 subjects with incident diabetes, and matched normoglycemic controls from the China Cardiometabolic Disease and Cancer Cohort study.

Surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy is a powerful analytical technique for the determination of analytes with the advantages of sensitivity, portability, and simplicity, able to provide structural information for the identification of compounds. However, when it comes to the analysis of complex samples, matrix components may interfere with the analyte quantification. To overcome this shortcoming, a number of approaches have been proposed, such as extraction techniques.
