Objectives: To evaluate and compare ectasia and pseudoectasia in post-myopic LASIK patients presenting with corneal topographic changes indicative of ectasia using the Ectasia Risk Factor Score System (ERFSS).
Methods: Single-center retrospective comparative case series of a consecutive chart review of cases in 18 years who underwent bilateral myopic-LASIK and showed topographic changes indicative of ectasia.
Results: Four patients were included. Group 1: pseudoectasia eyes, consisting of two patients with bilateral pseudoectasia, and Group 2: ectasia eyes, consisting of two patients with unilateral ectasia. The clinical course of the cases was discussed and compared based on the ERFSS parameters: topography pattern, residual stromal bed thickness, age, preop thinnest cornea, and pre-operative spherical equivalent (SE) manifest refraction (MR). Group 1 scored zero to low risk for developing ectasia while Group 2-eyes with ectasia scored moderate risk. The predictive value of the ERFSS was 1 in this study.
Conclusion: The ERFSS is a good measure in deciding the suited treatment plan for patient undergoing refractive procedure. Knowing the clinical course of ectasia and pseudoectasia is helpful in the therapeutic approach since pseudoectasia is reversible when identified and managed early as seen in this study.

Introduction: Laser refractive surgeries are a safe option for low-to-moderate refractive corrections, providing excellent visual outcomes. Over the years, various procedures have been introduced into clinical practice, but the most performed today remain Photorefractive Keratectomy (PRK), Laser Keratomileusis (LASIK), and Small Incision Lenticule Extraction (SMILE). Although laser refractive treatments are considered safe, clinicians have focused on the risk of post-surgical ectasia, a rare but serious complication.

This report describes the case of a 13-year-old castrated male poodle with respiratory distress and coughing. The dog had had its right thyroid gland and ipsilateral lymph node resected because of thyroid follicular carcinoma originating in the right thyroid gland and metastasis to the ipsilateral medial retropharyngeal lymph node. The dog was initially treated for chronic bronchitis but showed no resolution of the clinical signs.

Methods: A total of 14,948 eye scans from 2,278 eyes of 1,166 patients were used to develop a deep learning neural network algorithm with an 80/10/10 patient distribution for training, validation, and testing phases, respectively. The algorithm was evaluated for its accuracy, F1 scores, area under precision-recall curve (AUPRC), and area under receiver operating characteristic curve (AUROC).

Purpose: To explore the characteristics of retinal, choroidal, and retrobulbar blood flows in myopic patients with posterior staphyloma (PS) using ultra-widefield optical coherence tomography angiography (UWF-OCTA) and Color Doppler imaging (CDI).
Methods: The retrospective cross-sectional study enrolled 134 adults with high myopia from the Eye and ENT Hospital of Fudan University from December 2021 to September 2022. After propensity score matching, 45 eyes of 30 patients and 45 eyes of 32 patients were included in the PS and non-PS (NPS) groups, respectively.
An 88-year-old woman with pernicious anemia and atrial fibrillation on apixaban was admitted for evaluation of refractory anemia. Characteristic findings on computed tomography and upper gastrointestinal endoscopy confirmed the diagnosis of gastric antral vascular ectasia. This case highlights the importance of endoscopic surveillance in refractory anemia, even when other causes of anemia are present, and emphasizes the need for clinicians to remain vigilant for easily overlooked signs on computed tomography.
