Introduction: Periprosthetic joint infection (PJI) is a serious complication in arthroplasty surgery. The preoperative preparation of the skin plays an important role in infection prevention.
Methodology: A systematic literature review was conducted on the topic of antimicrobial wash lotion, precleaning, and shaving. Existing evidence was summarized by the committee of the German Arthroplasty Society and recommendations were formulated.
Results: By applying a local antiseptic before the operation, the risk of wound infection and PJI can be significantly reduced. This causes a reduction in revision surgery and leads to a shorter average hospital stay. If hair removal is necessary, it is ideally performed shortly before the procedure using an electric clipper. The use of a razor is not recommended.

Smart fabrics with multifunctional properties, such as antimicrobial reduction, superhydrophobicity, and UV resistance, have been highly desirable in medical textiles and sportswear. In this study, we demonstrate a cost-effective approach to achieving these properties. A nanosolution of silver and titanium dioxide was prepared, and a dip coating method was used to coat the polyester-cotton blend and 20% recycled cotton fabric.

The advent of the COVID-19 pandemic has underscored the pressing demand for antimicrobial materials that offer both durability and efficacy. Herein, the successful design and fabrication of a "water-insoluble" supramolecular precipitate is reported through the "bottom-up" assembly of polyanion sodium alginate (SA) with the antimicrobial motifs A2G and Cu. This innovative hetero-motif polyionic junction leverages a network of hydrogen bonds aligning with electrostatic interactions, and hydrophobic effects to mitigate the rapid release of active components, providing exceptional long-term antimicrobial efficacy against Staphylococcus aureus (S.

Background: The contribution of redox imbalance to equine asthma (EA) pathogenesis remains unclear.
Objectives: (1) validate and measure a panel of redox biomarkers in the tracheal wash (TW) and bronchoalveolar lavage (BAL) samples from horses with neutrophilic and mastocytic mild-moderate EA (MEA) and severe EA. (2) Evaluate the same panel in saliva and serum for comparative purposes.

Soap is essentially used for various purposes. Therefore, it is important to determine the physico-chemical, antioxidant, and antimicrobial properties of soaps to evaluate their quality. The present research work focuses on 22 commercial soaps which include bar soaps (SN 1-SN 19) and liquid hand washes (SN 20-SN 22).
