Many nurses and allied professionals (NAPs) lack the skills, knowledge and confidence to engage in conducting and implementing research. This statement describes the importance of NAPs' involvement in clinical research within the context of cardiovascular care. The existing gaps, barriers and enablers to NAPs involvement in research as a potential response to workforce issues in these professions as well as to contribute to excellence in patient care delivery and associated outcomes are identified. Specifically, career development pathways for NAPs are discussed. Finally, potential future directions for NAP research in clinical practice are provided.

Background: Clinical practice guidelines endorse family involvement in ward rounds to improve communication and engagement between patients, whānau (family), and healthcare teams, yet the practice has not been universally implemented. Whānau inclusion in adult bedside rounds is often met with hesitation by intensive care unit (ICU) healthcare clinicians, and reasons for this have not been explored in Aotearoa, New Zealand.
Objectives: The aim of this study was to assess attitudes and perceptions of ICU clinicians towards whānau-family inclusion in adult ICU ward rounds in Aotearoa New Zealand.

Background: To effectively advance person-centered care (PCC) practice, it is important to equip healthcare providers with person-centered values and beliefs while simultaneously transforming their work environment to align with PCC. Thus, instruments to measure caring practice status in nursing competency for psychiatric-specific behavioral limitations, ethico-moral behavior, technology use, and PCC need to be developed.
