A high-power laser beam profiling system was set up to investigate the influence of the interaction between the laser beam and the process emissions during welding with a shaped beam profile. A positional instability of the beam on the workpiece in the order of magnitude of tens of µm and noticeable distortions of the beam shape were observed when no cross jet was used. Both perturbations were reduced when a cross jet was applied to remove the process emissions from the beam path and minimized when the cross jet was positioned closest to the workpiece.

Background/objectives: Despite the numerous advances in glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) treatment, GBM remains as the most malignant and aggressive form of brain cancer, characterized by a very poor outcome, highlighting the ongoing need for the development of new therapeutic strategies. A novel intervention using plasma-assisted local delivery of oncology drugs was developed to mediate the drug delivery, which might improve drug uptake and/or chemotherapeutic action. Topotecan (TPT), a water-soluble topoisomerase I inhibitor with major cytotoxic effects during the S-phase of the cell cycle, was selected as the candidate drug because despite its potent antitumor activity, the systemic administration to the brain is limited due to low crossing of the blood-brain barrier.

Background: Diaper dermatoses broadly refer to skin disorders that occur in the diaper area. Dermoscopy is a non-invasive diagnostic tool that magnifies subsurface structures of the skin that are invisible to the unaided eye.
Aim: To identify and describe the dermoscopic features of dermatoses in the diaper area.

The objective of this study was to analyze the directions by which school jet lag is associated with traumatic dental injury in children, evaluating direct and indirect effects of socioeconomic factors and sleep. A representative, population-based, cross-sectional study was conducted with 739 schoolchildren eight to ten years of age. Parents/guardians answered a sociodemographic questionnaire, the Sleep Disturbance Scale for Children and the Circadian Energy Scale.
