As bacterial contamination crises escalate, the development of advanced membranes possessing both high flux and antibacterial properties is of paramount significance for enhancing water sterilization efficiency. Herein, an ultrathin layer of TbPa (an imine-linked covalent organic framework) and nanosized CuO clusters, sequentially deposited onto polyethersulfone membranes, demonstrate exceptional water flux performance, reaching a permeance level of 16000 LHM bar. The deposited TbPa, generating uniformly distributed reduction sites under illumination, facilitates the uniform formation of CuO clusters. Furthermore, these anchored CuO clusters significantly optimize electron transport within the ultra-thin layer of TbPa, thereby enhancing the performance of the membrane in generating reactive oxygen species (ROS). Consequently, this membrane achieves a flux recovery rate exceeding 98.6% for flux losses caused by bacterial fouling and maintains consistent performance over 10 cycles. This work presents an effective strategy for accessing bactericidal membranes and provides insights into efficient and mild water sterilization.

This research investigates the microbial inactivation potential of ternary TiO-CuO-chitosan nanocomposites (TCC NCs) applied as surface coatings on cowhide leather. Initially, bare TiO nanoparticles (NPs) and binary TiO-CuO (TC) NCs, with varying CuO NPs content, were prepared using an sol-gel method. These binary TC NCs were then modified with chitosan at varying weight percentages (2%, 4%, 6%, and 8%).

Cuproptosis shows great prospects in cancer treatments. However, insufficient intracellular copper amount, low-level redox homeostasis, and hypoxic tumor microenvironment severely restrict cuproptosis efficacy. Herein, hydrazided hyaluronan-templated decorated CuO-doxorubicin (CuDT) nanodot clusters (NCs) are developed for efficient doxorubicin (DOX)-sensitized cuproptosis therapy in breast cancer via a three-pronged strategy.

The purification efficiency of autoexhaust carbon strongly depends on the heterogeneous interface structure between active metal and oxide, which can modulate the local electronic structure of defect sites to promote the activation of reactant molecules. Herein, the high-dispersion CuO clusters supported on the well-defined CeO nanorods were prepared using the complex deposition slow method. The formation of heteroatomic Cu-O-Ce interfacial structural units as active sites can capture electrons to achieve activation of the NO and O molecules.

The pseudogap phenomena have been a long-standing mystery of the cuprate high-temperature superconductors. The pseudogap in the electron-doped cuprates has been attributed to band folding due to antiferromagnetic (AFM) long-range order or short-range correlation. We performed an angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy study of the electron-doped cuprates PrLaCeCuO showing spin-glass, disordered AFM behaviors, and superconductivity at low temperatures and, by measurements with fine momentum cuts, found that the gap opens on the unfolded Fermi surface rather than the AFM Brillouin zone boundary.

Copper nanoparticles (NPs) can be coupled with cuprous oxide, combining photoelectrocatalytic properties with a broad-range optical absorption. In the present study, we aimed to correlate changes in morphology, electronic structure and plasmonic properties of Cu NPs at different stages of oxidation. We demonstrated the ability to monitor the oxidation of NPs at the nanometric level using STEM-EELS spectral maps, which were analyzed with machine learning algorithms.
