: The aim of this work was to assess the effect of a conservative therapeutic intervention on the changes in the foot load distribution in people with femoroacetabular impingement (FAI) syndrome practising long-distance running. : The study involved 44 men, aged 30 to 50 years, practising long-distance running. Two rounds of tests were conducted in the Laboratory of Biokinetics of the AWF in Kraków. The first measurements were carried out in January 2020, and the second ones - after a 6-month therapeutic intervention in July 2020. The measurements of the distribution of foot pressure on the ground in static conditions and during barefoot running were performed with the use of the FOOTSCAN 7.111 podobarographic platform. Parameters showing the distribution of pressure in the individual foot areas and the trajectory of force distribution during the contact of feet with the ground were measured. : After the completion of the physiotherapy protocol, the FAI group differed significantly from the n-FAI group in relation to the Max F range in the areas of the first, fourth and fifth metatarsal bones, and as far as the impulse in the areas of the first, fourth, and fifth metatarsal bones and in the big toe area. : A comparison of the results of the first and second run of tests showed more positive changes in the FAI group than in the n-FAI group. This demonstrates a favourable effect of the conservative physiotherapy protocol in people with FAI - it can be an effective alternative to the surgical treatment.

The study aimed to test the significance of sports participation as a potential means of improving cognitive function, particularly cognitive flexibility. Based on the characteristics of orienteering, such as frequent changes of behavioural strategies in response to changes in the situation or the simultaneous performance of several mental activities, we assumed that practising this sport could foster the development of cognitive flexibility. Two groups of volunteers were compared: 50 middle and long-distance runners and 50 orienteering runners in terms of their performance on the following measures of cognitive flexibility: a divergent thinking task, a computer flexibility task, Cognitive Flexibility Scale, and Verbal Fluency Test as a measure of executive function.

Telemedical technologies provide significant benefits in sports for performance monitoring and early recognition of many medical issues, especially when sports are practised outside a regulated playing field, where participants are exposed to rapidly changing environmental conditions or specialised medical assistance is unavailable. We provide a review of the medical literature on the use of telemedicine in adventure and extreme sports. Out of 2715 unique sport citations from 4 scientific databases 16 papers met the criteria, which included all research papers exploring the use of telemedicine for monitoring performance and health status in extreme environments.

Regular and moderate physical activity is beneficial for physical and mental health, resulting in an increase in life expectancy for both sexes.
